"New" HRE Vintage Wheels

What a great idea - they're bringing back some of the classic wheel styles from the 70's and 80's.

Cool video on the CNC machining of one of the new Vintage wheels:

'99 550, Rosso Corsa / Nero, S/N:114654, Assy: 31836, Engine: 52084

High mileage, low compression, and missing on a few cylinders.....just like my cars.

John- Had seen the wheels earlier, but not the video. The five spoke wheels are actually very attractive.

Taz, I think so as well, but then you & I are both boomers and grew up with these classic styles, in the "proper" colors of silver or gold

I've been curious how HRE have worked around the potential IP infringements, ie are they paying BBS a royalty in order to reproduce their wheel design, and same with the Cromodora stars?

John- Have not heard of anyone patenting a wheel design, but it would not surprise me if they had. The Novitec NF1 and NF2 are copies of the Enzo wheels, so I guess nobody pushes enforcement that hard. All you have to do is make minor changes, though, and it is a different wheel.
