For starters - I am trying to buy a G55 from a Cali dealer - paying list and they still aren't sure if they want to sell me the car. All it took was to learn they were being discontinued. I have a deposit on one in Chicago but prefer the one in Cali.

New - Pleasanton ... they are worried about me exporting reminded of the GTO scenario - not happy but we shall see.

The RR not sure what to do - maybe send that to the girl it was bought for send young blood her jeep and send the S500 to the graveyard.

Feel like driving around the US - AGAIN? ... LOL

Doug- You really want to do that? That is the ratty old SOHC V8 with the ancient 5 speed automatic. If the S class 550 with 7 speed had been available on the G in 2008, I probably would have bought a G550. As is was I went with the GL 550. Would muich rather have a G550 than an AMG G55.

as much as I love anything AMG, Taz is probably right on this one.

Yept - I like the wider flares the nicer interior and the sound of the G55.

After owning my CL65 I just love the AMG engine and the side exhaust.

G550 rides to soft for me - G55 is a beast

They are discontinued for 012 and possibly 013 - many dealers are asking
25 -50 over list on the G55.

I might get killed and know the G550 is almost as fast 0-60 but I really like owning something different and this one if I get it ... is matte black

Doug- Once you get the gleam in your eye.......

Living in NM, matt black would not work at all unless you wanted to barbeque on the paint.

No worries - Pleasanton would not take my money.

Final story - mgmt wanted to service the car ... but if it didn't sell by the end of the month I could buy it.

I told them their business manners are interesting - they have something for sale and I am willing to pay sticker yet they won't sell it at that price.

Doug- Consider yourself lucky. The next AMG G will have either the twin turbo V8 or the AMG 6.2 liter (called 6.3 liter) and either the ZF 7 speed automatic or the AMG weird clutch 7 speed. That will be a much better vehicle than the dinosaur you almost bought.

Thanks Terry

I can't figure out why they would stop production for a year.

Time will tell

darn, I was looking forward to a road trip

buy a used one, like 08-09; that way you'll do okay on depreciation when the 2013 comes out.

I owned a CL65 - a out of warranty AMG can be more expensive than a new one

Those boys build some mean engines - but they do make mistakes
