About to Repaint Gertrude, Thoughts?

I figured I'd bring this to the experts, my lovely 308 GTB needs a repaint and new interior. I have it scheduled to go in Paul Newman's capable hands October 1 and while she is currently resale-red/tan I have been toying with a few ideas.

What are your thoughts on colour combinations if you were taking a 78 GTB to bare metal and had any choice at hand?

I forgot to put on the Boxer paint scheme, which is a thought as well.

I'm going to be boring Brett. I love red/tan so I'd keep it that way (especially if that's her original colours).

Still only you can decide, so go with whatever you prefer, it only has to please you!

Brett- I voted yellow/black, but it will cost more to change the color of the paint, so if it were mine, I would go with the original paint color. Interior? The beige you have or, if you are feeling adventurous, Cuoio.

It won't cost more for a colour change because all the inner structure is black regardless of body colour. Door shells and jams are always part of the deal. I'm going to be boring too and say red on solid black which isn't one of your options! I saw one glass car in Verdi? Bug juice green in other words and it looked great. Ribot blue is another fine choice on black. Black hides the lines and yellow attracts bugs like you wouldn't believe, they love it and just hang out on your car within minutes of parking it.

Paul- Whoops, had not thought about that. Been too long since I had mine (1983). In that case, I would go with yellow with a Cuoio or black interior.

I am down to Yellow/Black or Rosso/Black (red inserts), I think...

but the Cuoio is an interesting option

Out here in CA we call that "avocado".

Down in Pensacola, they called that shade "lima bean".

That is a color that could only look good on a 911, and maybe a Gallardo.

Not the worst I have seen, however. Celeste Chiaro takes that honor.

308s look great in Rosso, Giallo and Nero. Personal choice would be any of those 3 - so do not envy your decision!

I will say that I always wanted a Giallo Ferrari and then I bought a Rosso 360 and am kind of glad I did. Not for resale, but for the fact that Rosso Corsa really does suit the lines of the car and so if pushed I would go with Rosso and Tan/Cuoio on the 308 not for the originality reason but because the colour does suit the car so well. I once saw a Rosso 308 on a cold, misty autumn morning and it looked so spectacular that the image is etched in my memory.

I like blu and Pozzi is a nice colour but not on a 308, more 355. On the interior re-trim I would also do the pieces like the rear shelf if not already covered.

Ha ha

I say yellow on black no contrasting piping or inserts. Now all you need is the euro QV rear valance to clean up the US rear like I did. A simple rear frame work and presto you have the look and a deeper trunk. There's a new one on fleabay right now.
