Pretty sure bespoke means custom made to the buyer's specification. Not adding a few carbon fiber pieces by the factory. The P4/5 comes to mind...

Per the article - think of it as a Mulliner / OTO 612 Ferrari / Rolls Royce level.

Which they all consider bespoke with tweaks of handling and hp additions.

Quote - McLaren Automotive already offers 12C customers extensive options to personalize their car. However we recognize some owners have specific tastes and we have the knowledge and capability to design, engineer and produce almost anything a customer may desire for their 12C.

In my mind bespoke is another word for BLING! much like the program Maserati and Ferrari offer to custom tailor the car to your individual taste.

Current: 85' GTS QV
It's a simple process...... it's just complicated by human beings....

offering extra parts for a car is an option, not bespoke. now if the purchaser said they wanted a roof top box with certain dimensions and they built him one, the box would be bespoke, but the car wouldn't. if you are picking from a list, it is not bespoke. If they built large parts of the car to a specific customers wants and custom made those components, i would consider it bespoke. Just ordering from a list is custom or even unique maybe, but not bespoke.

Your dad appears to be an honest man.

But I believe wet is correct. If I read article correctly, they are offering only off the shelf bling. Something yet tells me I'll bet there is wallet speak in there as in 'what ever you want for $$$$'.

Am I the only one who thinks the McLaren logo on the steering wheel is ugly and cheap-looking?

+1 Everytime I see it it reminds me of the Anaheim ducks logo or a Star Trek logo!

McLaren don't do true bespoke. I e-mailed Ron and asked for one in amaranth red metallic, and that handles like a drunken Lindsay Lohan and swathed in deMinthe shaded semi-aniline elephant foreskin leather and I have yet to receive a reply. I also specified to have Hamilton's girlfriend sign the roof of the car with her bottocks, but that was a variable option for me.

When I placed the same order with the folks at Maranello, I received an immediate reply that asked for my preference of matching stitching or contrasting.

McLaren want to sell you a neatly packaged car. Ferrari want to sell you whatever you want to buy.

Correct. Too many people have relied on the media's opinions before actually getting behind the wheel of the car. Time will tell how the masses like the car.

If McLaren ever gets around to delivering the car to the increasingly frustrated masses....
