Having problems refueling with many pumps in California

I've had my 458 for a year, but it's been difficult refueling it at California gas stations, and impossible with the new pumps.

Anyone have any solutions, apparently Ferrari is aware of the problem but does not intend to do anything about it?

Cheers,

- DR

I have similar problems with my 360. I have to adjust the nozzle until I find a "sweet spot" where it won't keep tripping and then just hold it steady.

The 458 has a new closed fuel tank mechanism with 2 trap doors, once you're through the second one there is very little wiggle room, and some gas stations won't even activate the pump. Basically I'm concerned because the gas stations are progressively changing to new pumps that are more aggressive at vapor management, and they won't work at all.

Frankly, it's not a problem I anticipated in a quarter of a million dollar car, which I love otherwise!

If Ferrari offers no solution, I will have to part with it, certainly they are not going to redesign the California pumps for a 458.

Cheers,

Glad to know you can always seem to find a way to solve challenges, Alberto. Great to see you here at FL, of course. w/ smiles Jimmy

i have had those problems with several cars here in md. in particular my diablo roadster. i rarely filled it up because it was such a pain. Maybe fill up gas cans and keep them at the house. Then top off the car at home. easy for me because i daily drive a truck. but i like the funnel idea too. Crazy that you would have to make a decision like that. don't know what to say.
