Model Specific Windshield reflector

I've searched the forum and did not find anything about the windshield reflector, model specific. I've been advised that a business in Boca Raton creates reflectors that fit model specific designs.

Does anyone have input on this ?

Thank you in advance.

David- I have a Covercraft for my 575M and they have custom sizes for most Ferraris. About $50 or so.

Taz-

does this provide protection for the entire dash (i.e. prevent the leading edge of the dash from pulling up)?

Chas, David- It does a pretty good job of keeping the temperatures down and covers just about all the windshield. My dash has been recovered with lots of extra material, so I will be in pretty good shape even if it shrinks. Maranello rear windows are also big heat gatherers and I am thinking of getting a mild tint on that. Jan's GL 550 has IR glass and it keeps the interior very cool even with about an acre of glass.

Thank you Terry, The F355 side windows, and windshield really let the sun's heat in. I was thinking of tinting the side windows, lightly... well, enough to protect UV rays, and protect my arms. What extra materials have you placed on the dash ?

I am on the fence about tinting. The car is SO original. The spirit of the car's design...

The windshield screen, The Boca Raton business builds to completely cover the entire windshield and fits inside the creases of the dash, pillars and around the center mirror. I'll look into both. Thank you Taz ! I'll find the business in Boca and also ask about the 575.

Please forgive me, what is IR glass ?

David- IR is infrared glass, designed to keep the harmful IR and UV(ultraviolet) rays from eating the leather interior.

Made a call to Chris @ Ft. Lauderdale Ferrari, he gave me the name of the business I've been searching for;

The Driver's Seat
561-687-3900
Boca Raton
Free shipping $50.00+
Car Accessories, Seat Covers, Car Covers, Car Wax, The Driver's Seat

They have all kinds of goodies, I'm looking into a Valentine One radar detector, we have planes in the air, mounted cameras above while driving and ground radars. I've had built in detectors, I want to keep from building anything into the 355 so, that one is suppose to do all directions and semi-mount on the carpet under the console.

The screen is custom and they have the dimensions for Ferrari models.

Ferrari Ft Lauderdale does stock some shades...

David- That shop carries a lot of good stuff. Those are the same Covercraft sunscreens from the url I gave you earlier. That store probably just sends your order to Covercraft and they ship it directly to you.

I have been happy with mine and think you will be, too.

Thanks Taz. The link you posted had them for about about 9$ less. It does indeed look like the exact same product. When I saw the ford logo, I hesitated and, since it was Sunday, I waited to call Ferrari. drrr. This is great for future buyers. Click on Taz' link.

Have a great week !

The covercraft works like a custom fit. Thanks for the advice !

Here's a snap shot of the fitting:

David- Works like a custom fit because it is a custom fit. They have custom patterns for just about all post 70s Ferraris. The one for my Maranello fits just like yours.

Hi all:

Am considering getting this as a more elegant dashboard shrinkage protection solution (as opposed to the bedsheet we currently use to cover the whole windshield from the outside!), and would appreciate a confirmation from existing owners of the shade: how much dashboard leather will be visible & exposed to the sun on the leading edge with this shade, on a F355 (GTB but it shouldn't matter)?

Thanks in advance and great to see that there's evidently a thread for everything imaginable on here already.

Yep, the photo says it all. Next time I'm out, I'll take a photo (and post here) of the cover, installed, from inside the cabin. The shade is remarkable and custom designed for the 355 windshield (actually, for each Ferrari, there is a custom design that you can order). With the shade installed, no leather is exposed to sun. When I'm out and about, I keep the shade behind the passenger seat (or in the front boot), when I park, unfold it, pop it in the windshield, just under the visor metal tabs and it's good to go. Sometimes I'm in a hurry and I'll just place the extended cover across the entire dash and lay the top part on the top of the steering wheel. it still keeps all sun from the leather.

Have fun !

Agreed, the covercraft is custom made to fit and a decent value. Another benefit is it folds accorion style (easier to store when attending a show) and ships with a sleek leather pouch; Window Sun Shields.

Thanks all, esp Voila - the bolded text was what I was after. I have a cheap off-the-shelf shade that exposes the leading inch or so of leather, and figured if a custom cuts that down to half an inch it's not worth it, but if it eliminates it then different story.

I'll look forward to your pics when you have them!

Attached are the photos from the inside. The only places that sun rays come in are in the corners at the bottom, which I am showing in these photos.

I have the reflector slid all the way up, where the metal tabs are located under the visors.

The light which is shining in from the exterior, in one of the photos is actually from the side window, which has uv-a/b protection.

Comments on the leather after the windshield reflector, tint and Leatherique treatment:

After installation of the tint on the side windows plus the windshield reflector, every day that I drive, I notice that the Leatherique is working much better !

Of course, to make the Leatherique work its' magic, you have to clean with the special solution by Leatherique, let dry then apply the conditioner with your hands. Place plastic-wrap over all pieces that have the product applied and let it bake in the sun for a day...

After this treatment (a few times), keeping the leather protected from UV rays with the reflector and tint is making the leather plush/glove-like-butter-to-touch & it reversed any previous UV damage it had... Just an FYI if you have issues with any temperamental leather.

Enjoy ! I certainly carry the reflector everywhere I go, and I AM a daily driver.
