Everton Football player, Louis Saha crashes Ferrari

The 32-year-old Frenchman was driving his high-powered Italian sports car in Cheshire just before 9pm last night when the accident took place.

According to reports, Saha emerged from a tunnel on the A538 near Manchester Airport and lost control of the Ferrari on the wet road – colliding with a fence. (Near to the airport tunnel where Cristiano Ronaldo crashed his Ferrari in January 2009).

There were no other cars involved with Saha miraculously emerging from the vehicle unscathed. The Ferrari, which was badly damaged, is now being stored at a Cheshire vehicle recovery firm’s lock-up.

Saha was driving his new Ferrari 458 Italia – a 170,000 supercar capable of 202mph.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At 8.54pm on Sunday 27 February 2011, police were called to Altrincham Road, Wilmslow to the report of a single vehicle road traffic collision.

“Officers attended the scene where a blue Ferrari 458 had collided with a fence outside the tunnel''.

“The 32-year-old driver was uninjured. Inquiries are continuing.”

glad he is ok: At the rate 458's are going toast, Ferrari will have to up the production rate.

Perhaps this will be the greater mistake of Ferrari trying to appeal to those that can just afford a performance care: more people with money than ability.

They have always done that. There has always been a high fall-out rate, and I think it is less now (%-wise) than it used to be. Back in the days before speed cameras and helicopters it was much harder to get caught so there was less deterrence. I would be driving my cars harder if it was the '60ies or '70ies, without a doubt. So I think there were more people trying to be Jackie Stewart in 308s and Boxers than people trying to be Alonso in 458's.

Back in those days things that went wrong didn't fly all over the internet, so the picture is less clear. But if you follow the stories about vintage and classic Ferraris it is amazing how often a car is named that was written off with driver killed. Impact protection was a lot less too, of course.

I doubt it will ever see the road again. Individual parts of it might....

Ferraris are mismatch for soccer players.
Soccer players should not choose Ferraris.
