By they way - what's with the big antenna on top of the air intake/camera?

Looks like a high-bandwidth antenna and appears to contain video and a couple of sensors (temp & pitot?).



I expect they have lots more telemetry data to collect with the new car, much more than just normal race data. I suspect it also receives data to facilitate real-time changes.

It would make sense to have real-time changes made possible in the test phase, even when it is not allowed during the season. If you can keep the car out while you're tweaking it so much the better.

Who the heck is Jerome d'Ambrosio? Seems like he put in a decent time in the Virgin. And Nico Hulkenberg certainly did in the Force India.

I could be wrong however the ECU is made by maclaren and mandatory for all cars with no live changes available to it.

So I doubt that the large fin antennae would be for the purposes of changing engine management profiles. Could well be for the other changeable components on the car such as rear wing diff etc.
