There are lots of “replicas” out there on the road and most are pretty poorly executed. Having owned a couple poorly executed replicas in my youth my advice is buying one is a very good idea but it’s not my opinion that matters so you’re so only you can make the call.

You won’t find you get a very warm reception on a Ferrari web site when you start asking about replicas that have no actual Ferrari content……..

The good replicas cost as much as a nice 308 or 328 and the others are cheesy and anyone that gets within 10 feet of it will know it's a replica. Save your money and wait a few years and get the real thing. GT4s and 308s can be bought resonably. Take your time and learn about them first before buying. Insurance might not be too bad if it is a second car and you register it as a collector car? The laws are different state to state.

I'd like to see a replica of a ferrari f4. do you have any pics?

as far as insurance goes, most states have an insurance pool for "uninsureable" people. It's a little pricey, but hey, if you can afford a "real" f4, you can afford the insurance. No?

I agree with KKrace. Buy a 308. You will get a better satisfaction and will be worth some money someday.

Whats an F4?

Need to specify, are you talking replica, or replicar?

Replicas are things like Fiberglass Daytona bodies on Corvette chassis.

Then there are relicars. These are often built so well, using genuine Ferrari driveline components, an expert can have trouble telling the difference.

A Ferrari F4 doesn't exist, I think you mean P4.

When I was young I learnt to save up and having to wait for something I really wanted. I was never able to just buy things. If you can afford to run a piece of plastic crap that looks like a Ferrari, you can afford to own a real 308 if you wait a couple of years. In the meantime, you can get real Ferrari owners as your friends - I have several friends that are true passionate Ferrari fans and I let them drive my Ferraris. If your heart is in the right place, you can experience that too. And when you're ready, you will have a very real experience: the satisfaction that you have achieved owning your dream by buying your first Ferrari.

Now tell me, isn't that better than something fake?

A 308 is one thing, a P4 is another. Anyone who can afford ANY fake car, including a Fiero kit, can afford a 308.

A P4 on the other hand, is so bloody rare and rediculously expensive, almost no one will ever own one. Not a real one anyway. Which brings us back to the question of what to do with spare Ferrari engines.

I must say, that should I ever aquire a Ferrari V-12, I would be hard pressed to make a coffee table out of it and watch it collect dust for the rest of my life. That would seem such a waste.

Ah yes. But then, you've probably never seen the art that is Capo's wine rack. Remember, many didn't understand Warhol in his lifetime either.
