365gt4 2+2

Hello,

Does anyone out there know of a good 365GT4 2+2 that maybe for sale please.
I'm not too worried if its a LHD but I would prefer a RHD , not red and with an MOT.( Or the equivalent for Europe or where ever ? )
At a push I may be interested in a 400GT, but please no automatics or injection models, thanks

I do hope someone can help, I would appreciate any lead at this stage.
Thank you in advance.

Stephen.

Assume you are UK based. If so, suggest you contact Mike Wheeler at Rardley. He specializes in 2+2 Ferraris. They are tough to find these days.

This has been said many times before and I'm not sure what your experience level is with these cars, but please be aware that they cost just as much as 275GTB's, 250 Lusso's or other Ferrari's of that vintage to maintain. In a nice year they are cheap but in a bad year they are brutally expensive. Be careful of tired looking engines, a rebuild is GBP20k+.

I've bought one of the best 330GTC's out there last year but I'm still expecting to spend over GBP10k this year (work still being done, no idea what the bill will be). After that I should have a couple of cheap years.

Not trying to scare you off - I think these 2+2 cars are worth the maintenance fee. But I believe you can't enjoy these cars if you go in with the wrong version of reality.

100% agree on your words. But why do you had so much repairs on your wonderful 330 GTC after such a short time (I understand you really drove a lot since buying it) ?!

I'm totally aware as I have had two other ferraris in the past, and as you know only too well, although they are the same to maintain they are considerably cheaper to buy.
I appreciate that one can spend 10/20 maybe in one year but that doesn't get you a 330GTC on top of the initial outlay, but thank you anyway.

Suggest you also contact the FOC UK and ask if any are coming up for sale privately. Al at Alsaautomotive might also know of one.

This is a very good car based in Australia, not sure whether the sums would add up for you if imported to the UK

Well, a big rock on the windshield doesn't help. Then there are the worn-out carburettors. This is a problem that has been growing for many years. The 15,000kms I did in the past 12 just took it over the edge. As you will remember when you drove my car in 2009, there was nothing problematic to notice. But in the beginning of 2010 I noticed that the car started to have problems with varying throttle. In particular, if you step off the throttle abruptly, the car would only very slowly drop in revs. My specialist tried to tune it, but it turned out that the carb settings were already at their max. So there was no more play possible, the carbs needed refurbishment. Then, there were the middle exhaust dampers which have been repaired a couple of times but really needed to be replaced. Finally, because of the Classiche Certification, we needed to take the gearbox apart. But I had also noticed that shifting became slightly harder during the trip to Italy (more crunching when shifting from 3 to 2). It turns out that the synchromeshes and some bearings on 2nd and 3rd gear are getting worn. So I am having the gearbox refurbished and making sure that everything is perfect.

I do not think this is in anyway unusual or disappointing, it's just that some jobs came together because of the use I gave it. Some of the jobs are not completely necessary but I'd rather get it done whilst there is access. In spring, she should be spectacular again!
