Ferrari Import process in US

Hey guys, i'm an Italian International student currently studying at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and i have to write a research paper about the Ferrari import process in US, explaining the different prices, times and methods of shipments.

I already went to the Ferrari dealer in Honolulu and a guy with the same sharpness of a basketball told me that he didn't know and that the import process wasn't his business...he just payed the dealer in New Jersey to ship him the Ferraris.

Cruzing the internet i couldn't find anything, so i wanted to know if any of you could help me.

There are two very different types of import processes:

- official dealer imports of cars built to US DOT/EPA specifications
- grey market or personal imports of non-US market spec cars

which are you looking for information on.

The first one with particular attention to the DIFFERENCES between the Italian omologation to the US one and the relative modifications made to a Ferrari in Italy that is destined for US market.

If that is the case then it would not be Ferrari specific. What you need are the differences between EU homologation and US DOT/EPA homologation.
