First Renderings of The P4/5 Competizione Revealed

Jim Glickenhaus's wicked Ferrari P4/5 race car is currently under construction and set to compete in next year's 24-hours of the Nürburgring. The team behind the Ferrari P4/5 Competizione recently revealed renderings of how they expect the finished car to look.

Glickenhaus's car, dubbed the Competizione, will incorporate the suspension and V-8 drivetrain of an F430 GT2 racing car. Because he plans to make it street-legal following the Nürburgring race, it's being built on the modified structure of a 430 Scuderia. Not much more is known about the current state of the project other than the fact that it appears to be progressing as planned, and that hanging a Scuderia from the ceiling is the best way to place it on a calibrated surface plate for measurement. If gossip is to be believed, the FIA has classed the P4/5 in the same experimental competition group as Porsche's upcoming 918 Spyder and current 911 Hybrid.

Just fantastic.

A boyhood dream, is it not? What would you do if you had the means? Something like this surely?

One thing I do have to emphasise: this is not just money talking, Jim has been racing cars for over 30 years from what I've gathered from his remarks. And certainly he has the Ferrari knowledge to turn this into something much more than just a fancy, but something with clear roots into Ferrari's past although it has not been created by Ferrari. Not many could pull this off.

I get goosebumps! It is such an excentric thing to do, absolutely marvellous. Looking forward to seeing more of this project.

This is very exciting...and a side note, I have never seen a car be lifted literally from the wheels like that.

What about racing the 599? Since GT1 is gone, no class left?
Ferrari needs P1 class racer for Sebring and LeMans.
