Moved up the 458 list...

...which should bring me great joy, but I have to pause and think that I was #24 six weeks ago. And while he did not say which number I am now, he did say he had mailed me the brochures(!) and the options lists, et cetera.

Yet, the realist in me is remembering how fast I shot up the California list (so fast I got off the list, i.e., not too popular) and can't imagine any lack of interest in the 458, right? I mean, if it sounds too good to be true...

Comments?

Hell I'd buy one based off of looks and reviews alone and I wouldn't of with the cali (assuming I had the money haha.) If you like the car be happy your moving closer to geting it, if not then get off the list.

Thinking it is a good thing. Haven't heard many negatives, and with this economy and taxes just in from various entities, you lucked out: good thing.

I know I'll love the car, I just can't help wondering why some folks have (obviously) defaulted their place in line.

Thanks for the comments!

It sounds like the typical sales gimmick, supply and demand trick. There are always buyers who want the latest and the best ASAP. I suppose if you want 458, then I do not see this to be a problem, rather a blessing. Also, being a proper entrepreneur as you are, I am sure you have your money matter in order.

Not that you are one, that reminds me of a visit to this exotic car dealer in Tokyo few years ago. The showroom was full of ooohs and aaaahs. Most of them were in immaculate conditions with unbelievably low mileage. I asked the salesperson why do these owners let go of these so fast. The answer was typical, they get bored with it. There was this one 360 Challenge with only 300 miles or so and the owner wanted to sell and change up. Apparently, it was owned for only few months.

Sorry for digressing. Good luck with your coming 458. w/ smiles Jimmy

of course there is a relative lack of interest in the 458, compared to, say a 430 in 2007. one year wait instead of three. the economy mostly. still seems like pretty high demand though. bottom line is whether you like the car and want to own it, not whether the line is filled with speculators trying to get a free car for two years. if i had the wear withal, i'd be on it.

Concur. And I am not a speculator, per se, but like to be somewhat wise with my funds, i.e., knowing that depreciation (and the occasional maintenance) is the cost of fun; however, I don't want to take a $50k haircut, either...

I would not worry about why others have dropped out, Colonel.

The economy has strange effects and it is biting even many with very good credit or what they thought was good credit.

Economists in this area expect 5-6 more years of employment issues and about the same for housing recovery.

Maybe folks are just prioritizing things more carefully now.

Order the freekin thing so we can see it!!!!

I seriously wonder what your future speeding tickets would be with such a high performance spec. car as the 458. Maybe you ought to start making friends with the local police and state troopers to give you "breaks". Probably, you can start by donating some funds for their lounge or something like that ??? w/ smiles Jimmy

They probably found out that your a Colonel and that should easily bump you up to the top of the list!

I saw the first 458 on ebay the other day Nero on Nero coming out of Germany, What a beast! Cant wait to see it in person.

I'm excited for you Colonel cant wait to see what you think.

Cheers!

Sage advice! I think I'll start by letting the mayor use it every once in a while. lol

Only a Colonel via moniker, but appreciate the sentiment.

I can't wait to see the brochures, let alone the real thing!!

Wow now that's unique.

I met Colonel Sanders at the Indy 500 years ago. What a character and he was wearing that classic suit w/a cowboy style hat.

Now that folks are not wearing hats all the KFC's show him w/o the hat!
