The new 599GTO launched

Here's the official launch of the new 599GTO: http://www.ferrari.com/English/GT_Sp...es/599GTO.aspx

What do we think? Impressive car, but doesn't quite make me go weak in the knees. Not even sure why. I'll have to think about that.

I do know someone who's going to buy it - perhaps a first-hand impression will make me change my mind...

I like the two tone look. Agree it's not a 'make me fall in a swoon' but very nice.

Looks 'assembled' to me. No one single design feature that blew my mind. Incohesive to some degree?

In my humble opinion, of course.

Impressive engineering, though.

"the leaner and meaner 599 can spring to 62 miles per hour from a standstill in a scant (and very specific) 3.35 seconds, with a top speed in excess of 208 mph, while lapping the Fiorano test track from which its donor's name is derived in a blitzing 1 minute, 24 seconds. That's faster than the Enzo, people."

They don't use the term 'GTO' lightly - I'm sure it's a beast. Just not crazy about the skin...

Looks like a great cruiser and apparently it can hall more ass than the Enzo. Not to mention how sick it looks in blue with the black rims. Ahh I'd love to have one of these.

I agree..... swoon is maybe not the correct term.... passout might be... especially since it'll do 60 in 3.35 seconds.... I can almost feel my brain sloshing to the back of my head just looking at it. Then again that might be the scotch.

Current: 85' GTS QV
It's a simple process...... it's just complicated by human beings....

The classic look suits it quite well, I think. Blue with a white stripe is also nice. If you are going to revive the GTO name you might as well revive some of the colour schemes. Not sure what this filmer had been drinking, though!

Onno i think it would be better if they just make a GTO instead of a 599GTO due to the fact there are so many 599 on the road already sure is a much better version of the 599 with different color bits here and there but just not special enough for the price you have to pay!

Cheers

I love the two tones as well. That black top for gives him an extra touch. But its not a wooowwwoer for me, Didn't fell in love...but i like it.

The problem to me is that back bumper...don't like it simply, doesn't look part of the same car

Saw a dark blue GTO with silver roof at Fiorano. I casually glanced it over and thought - that is a very nice 599.

It took me 15 minutes to realise it was a GTO (couldn't see the back from where I was standing).

To me, such a limited edition car should be a bit more than a GT derivative. I'm sure that it will be fantastic dynamically, but I just can't shake that realisation that I honestly did not notice it was a GTO. Like the Challenge Stradale it may carve a niche for itself, but it won't be held in the same esteem as the 288/F-40/F-50 and Enzo IMHO. And rightfully so.
