1 you like spending money
2 You need something else in your life to stress about
3 You like people making Magnum jokes when you wear a hawaiin shirt
4 Your insurance agent is having trouble paying kids tuition
5 Your local gas station only carries premium gas
6 To convince your ex girlfriend that dumped you that your not a loser
7 Get the "Owner" tag on your Flife profile
8 The accesories are really cool
9 Your too lazy to cut the low branches hanging over your driveway and the Ferrari is the only car that will pass under them

And lastly: #10 Because I'm trying to sell you mine!

Surprising that Lambo never had a "Mat-A-Door" model.

I'll say one thing about Lambos, no getting around, they ARE sexy, if not in your face and I do love almost everything about them with two exceptions [of which would not deter me]

1. Costly repairs due to rarity of persons who can work on them, even in our Bay Area: Captured market more than Ferrari for work
2. [somewhat] over the top personification where generally one thinks of typical Lambo person as BIG, with gold chains, and in your face.

but, would love one anyway....if not for the #1 thingie in these days [don't ask...just got my taxes today ]

I can't afford a wife and a Lambo!

Pick any one- they will both screw you!

If you really want to show the "punk" image, you need the Lambo. Remember they were designed by a guy who built tractors, and no matter how many times they've been redesigned, they are still a sporting tractor.

Actually, I think most of the members here would give the same advice. If you want a Ferrari you get a Ferrari. If you want a Lambo you get a Lambo. Which one does your heart tell you to buy? If you think about automotive purchases with your brain you'd buy a Volkswagon or a Hyundai. Or a Toyota, especially with the offers they've got going now. You've rejected that already so you should just go ahead and buy the car you like. When you see the car you will know it. You'll look at it and you'll say, "Oh yeah, that's me." And that car will become part of your life. You are welcome here no matter which car you choose. Go with the car that your heart tells you to choose. That's the one that will make you happy.

If there isn't one specific model that you just want, then don't buy one at all.

If there are two or more that you just want, then it's time to consider and compare.

Lambo owners have to field a lot of questions from gawkers at the filling station!

My personal feeling is that if you have to ask, then it doesn't matter. They're both great exotic sportscars and for keeping up with the Joneses both will do. In terms of performance or reliability they are also very similar these days. But in some ways they are very different and these are emotional things that do not matter if you don't know about them.

Lamborghini is more of an underdog, a small business that feels like a family (although that is rapidly dwindling with recent success). People who bought Lambo's traditionally connected with the factory and it's endearing fight against survival. They made super sportscars with a budget that was less than my daily spending. The only way that they could have survived is through making the most outrageous cars on the planet which would always find a following just because they are so outlandish. So that is what they did.

Ferrari on the other hand is the marque that carried the flag for Italy. The brand that said "racing success is what it is all about!" and if you bought a Ferrari you would take some of that racing DNA with you. The cars old really had a strong link with racing - your opulent 330GTC cruiser used the same engine as the 330GTO race cars. The Boxer sounds a lot like an F1 312T. And so on. All that success caused Ferrari to be literally worshipped in Italy and this mythical status they have very cleverly exploited to become one of the worlds most coveted marketing brands. This means that they are far more commercial than Lamborghini - just visit the 2 factories and the difference is amazing and readily apparent.

So to choose, for me, should be based on what company philosophy and history you connect with. I love both but most of the Lambo's are too in-yer-face for me, they don't suit my personality. So I have several Ferraris. But I would love a Miura SV!

Onno's philosophy is sound. It is not the car that is important. It is the love of the car that is important. I have a sweet spot in my heart for Dodge. That's me. I don't own one but one day I will. I miss my '73 Challenger and my '96 3/4 ton Ram. I'm stuck with a Chevy 1/2 ton and an old Ferrari. That new Ram truck seems to be calling to me......

nobody has mentioned the main reason to get a ferrari over a lambo. If you are a car guy and active on these forums, you will find there is little to no community. Frankly, a lot of the lambo owners i ran into where not really car guys. I had one gallardo owner ask me if my diablo was a ferrari. And he had owned a ferrari before the lambo. On the plus side, all the ferrari guys will want you at their events! They get tired of looking at the same ferraris every time. So, a lambo is more of a second exotic to me. Or a bucket list kind of thing for car guys. If i was to have one (which i do now) it would be a ferrari.
