Paint

I have a need to dress up some chips or spots.

I know there are great people out there with abilities to fix with little problems, but then they would have to almost be attending my autos every few months.

Sort of would like to just dress up the small items, then let the pros in there to fix it down the road: With me always driving them, it would be nice to just match the paint and fix the little stuff.

Someone showed me a http://www.drcolorchip.com/
and more searching turned up
http://www.paintscratch.com/

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/

General Auto Paint Videos: http://www.answerbag.com/custom-car-paint

I've see several like this but don't know what I'm getting into. Thinking of just pulling the trigger and seeing what happens.

Perhaps I should start a poll.

If you want this done absolutely perfectly and correctly you should contact:

Luis Lopez
www.lmcartouchup.com
408-230-5440

He has worked wonders on my car and those of many more I have recommended.

He is a wizard.

He has full paint mix capability in his van!

Some of the ones you mentioned are good but Luis is GREAT!

Thanks for the posting as it'll contribute to the PAINT thread in the Tech section, albeit he is localized to CA.

NOW: Anyone have experience with any of the links above? I need the occasional and immediate use of a chip coverup: afterall, doesn't a pretty woman need periodic makeup until they see the beauty diva?

YES! However, that particular car gets more damage daily than the Mondial, which I've never figured out. Get the chips and stuff on that nose all the time.

SO: begging here. Anyone with experience on the web solutions.

The first one looks interesting but I have serious doubts. Have you tried googleing the name and review to see if anyone else tried it? The other links all just looked like touch up paint?

I have a friend that runs one of those paint shops out of a van. I'll ask him about them and if he has any tricks. I used to paint cars for a living but close to 30 years ago so I'm not up to any of the new stuff.

Rik:

If you are going to do this, let me know, the Mondial needs a little re-touching on the nose also, maybe we can do them at the same time.

I have heard from a few that Dr.Colorchip is very good.

But since you two are in the area you'd be better off to contact Luis. Why screw with paint when Luis can do it expertly?

BECAUSE, like above , I need a sometimes quick fix, and different colors like especially the 456.

Can't be dragging the car every time to Luis for a small chip...they get driven too much.

Mines no garage queen like yours

Luis is mobile and he mixes the paint when he does the work.

And I do not have the nicks that your daily driver does. I have seen them. I know!!!

Yes mine is a garage queen because the weather has been lousy until just recently and Ferrari's don't work in the rain!!! They are like comcast!

A couple guys on another forum said they used Drcolorchip and had good results. No personal experience with the product.

The Mondial is going to Truckee for the summer. It lives in the house up there, so that I don't get Ferrari withdrawal when I'm there.

As I remember. You lucky guy you...fly up to Tahoe, pick up the Ferrari and shake up the tourists.

You mondi is super since you redid all the leather and the exterior is better than mine. Saw it at Brians a few short weeks ago IIRC when picking up the 456.

WHEN, and it will happen, I do the front or whatever for the Mondial in paint, I'll connect and we'll get a 'good' deal

BTW: Brian hooked me up with a fellow there, who re-did my side strakes [still needing a bit of fitting]. They were Al not plastic. He painted and mounted them: NO cracks. IF you ever find a 1989 series Mondial T, try for the side strakes as they are METAL.

Anway, that 'guy' [have to get his name again] offered to buff out all the wheels from rash etc, and repaint all the black exposed areas on windshield, mirrors, and bottom for about $1K. I needed the car like NOW so didn't have the time..but on my bucket list.
