First post at Ferrari life

Hi everyone, I am new member here or maybe the newest.
I have followed this site for so long, but just join lately. I came from a
small city (my friend used to call me countryside boy). Since I am a kid, I
already recognize this "Ferrari brand" and never know that I will like and
addicted to Ferrari so much until now. Honestly, I don't own any Ferrari
and never own one before.

Now I am at my 29 years old age. Still work hard to keep my dream a life (to own Ferrari). Don't care what other people said that it will only be my
dream and I will never achieve it. I believe I can and will achieve it for
sure. Hopefully I can be welcome here (really sorry that I don't own
any Ferrari yet).

But one day, I will buy my very own Ferrari (special one if possible)
because it maybe my only Ferrari in my life. So I will go for special one.
Does anyone here from Singapore? I really like to know the pricing of
F430, Scuderia or 458 Italia (if they already have it) in Singapore. Because
seems like Singapore Ferrari price is vary, depend on the currency, tax and
so on. So can someone give me any idea about the on road pricing.
I need some guide so I can plan on my saving to buy one in the next 10
years (maybe 1 or 2 models after 458 Italia).
I appologize for my poor english, I am from the country where english is not
our main language (I am not from Singapore either, but I like that
country very much). Thank's for everyone time to read my long
introduction. Thank you again.

Welcome to FLife! You don't need to own a Ferrari to be welcome here, juat have a love of the car. There are lots of beautiful Ferraris of all price ranges and it's hard to say what the prices are going to be in the future, especially hard for a new model.

Welcome: And +1 with KKRace.

Learn from the literature if you want to know more, do lots of reading here, and I'm sure your well put questions will be answered with grace.

Since you mention a passion for the Ferrari, that is how dreams start....reality is another matter...1st reality, 2nd answering the dream.

Welcome to FL, K-R. I understand that taxes for cars are horrendous in Singapore. Maybe, it would be a short cut for you to get F-car by moving somewhere else than Singapore where you the government penalizes you ? Just kiddling. w/ smiles Jimmy

Hi and welcome.

Keep dreaming those dreams, they CAN come true!

Perhaps aiming for a 458 within the next 10 years is ambitious, but why not keep track of - for instance - the 360? Looks pretty modern, is morbidly fast and will depreciate considerably in the coming decade, I'ld guess.

Cheers,
Irvin

Ciao & Welcome to FL

As stated no need to be an owner, in fact you are doing what most previous owners should have done and that is to learn as much as you can about these wonderful machines

Welcome K-R.

Suggest you save plenty! I hear the import duty in your country is almost as much of the car.

We have David from H-K that's somewhat close but I thought we have one or two from Singapore.

Welcome to the site. We have a good time here.

Welcome K-R, you got that right G let me put it this way a price of a Honda Civic in Singapore is about the same price as a BMW 3 series any where else!

Cheers

I remember being appalled in 1987 on a trip to Korea when I was told that the import duty on a car there was 100%!

How's that for protectionism.

Thank's for each and everyone of you for welcoming me here. Really
happy. I have saved for 5 years (for my Ferrari fund) since I decide to own
Ferrari one day. So add another 10 years will be 15 years. I am after a
brand new Ferrari that release 10 years from now. Since I only plan to
have one Ferrari in my life, I like it to be a special one. If I own 2 Ferrari,
the second one must be older model like 360 or 430 (10 years from now,
F430 will be depreciate). Can't have more than 1 brand new Ferrari,
because I still want to save as much as I can for my kids future (Well,
same as my Ferrari dream, I don't have child yet), but I already start to
save for them since few years ago.

I surf the Singapore web and found that F430 (second maybe) cost about
SGD$ 788,000 and 599 Fiorano cost SGD$ 1,150,000 (About US$820,000).
That's 3 times more expensive than US with same model. Gosh, why the
tax is that high in Singapore.

Well, for keep my dream a life, I bought all 1/43 scale Ferrari die cast.
Start from 360 Modena, F430 Scuderia and just arrive few days ago is
458 Italia. When I saw all my die cast, it will boost up my spirit to work
and save more. Because one day, I will drive those Ferrari. A brand new
one. Can't wait till that time come. That's my way to keep my dream a life.
Anyway, thank's again everyone, for welcoming me to this very friendly
forum. Thanks

The appeal of a brand new Ferrari is undeniable indeed. But your dream could turn into a reality a lot quicker if you consider the merits of a 2nd hand model and allow somebody else to take the first big hit of depreciation. Food for thought maybe...?

Thanks for the idea Barry. I just worry the first owner give a hard core to the Ferrari . But, I'll consider 2nd hand Ferrari if it's under 1,000 miles or 1,600km. Also make sure I get it from Ferrari authorize dealer (I saw some 2nd hand F430 for sale in Sydney Ferrari last year). The other thing is "I'll make sure to work my ass off to keep my dream a life"

It's true that choosing Ferrari is like choosing wife (I am totally agree with this thread in FL forum)

WELCOME FROM AFAR! I totally agree with RIK in that you can find a vast wealth of information here and ask all questions as we have been in your shoes at one point in our lives. I did the same as you. I asked questions about buying a ferrari before I purchased it and believe me, the information I got from the forum was extremely valuable and saved me quite a bit of money and kept my focus on the TR and not another model that a dealership wanted to sell me.

As for the wife analogy. Well, keep in mind, if you have a wife, she is going to be the one who dictates whether you get a ferrari or not . If you do not have a wife, then the comparisons may be similar, but boy there sure are differences:

Ferrari:

never talks back
never argues
never complains
fires up when you touch her buttons
screams when you push the pedal to the metal
will send chills down your spine on your command
never turns off until you say so
she will provide multiple orgasms and you will be the one saying stop
the best part, she will never say no 24/7/365

Cherio.

Hi redtrman, thanks for your support. I do have a wife. Both she and my parent allow me to have one brand new Ferrari in my lifetime. Or if I buy 2nd hand maybe I can ask permission of 2 Ferrari instead of 1?
I am still head of my family. So my wife and child need to respect my dream and decision. I still a in my family, hahaha. But king never work actually. In my case, king need to work day and night ...

Just surf to Singapore car forum. They mention about social status requirement if I want to buy brand new Ferrari there. Is that real? Or the second option is I need someone who own Ferrari to recommend me to the dealer in order to get a new Ferrari or third option is I own Ferrari before (which I don't definitely). If I can't provide the option above, I'll end up on 2nd hand Ferrari only . Is that true? And is that really hard to buy Ferrari there even we have the cash? Well, still can't really believe it. Anyone can clarify this requirement? Is this requirement still valid until now?
