Need Some Help!

My neighbor, who is rebuilding a Pantera, came over to my home. He said he has friend who just lost his father. The friend inherited a Ferrari but does not know what it is. His father has had it since the seventies. My neighbor does not know Ferrari so he asked me to identify what the car is.

I asked what he knows about the car. He said it is a two-seater with a V-12 with Webers. He thinks it is a 1971 or 1972. It is a convertible with a headlight cover from one side of the car to the other. Someone wanted to buy it for $75,000. Hummm. It sounds like a Daytona. I told him to get me the VIN number and my friends on this site will be able to identify it.

Am I correct?

Happy to help. If it is a Daytona plexi Spider than it is a conversion (only one Plexi Spider was made and it is in a private collection in Germany), Depending on condition, it will be worth $125-250k.

+1. Being in Southern California, very well might be one that went thru Michael Sheehan's shop back then, chopping roofs converting coupes to spyders. If the car has been sitting for long time, it would require major services. Gary Bobileff in San Diego is doing nuts and bolts resto of Daytona coupe right now which would cost around 150k. w/ smiles Jimmy

I hate to say it, but if he doesn't know much about Ferraris, it could be a replica Daytona Spider.
Perhaps on a Corvette chassis (like the first season of Miami Vice) or worse.

I think Boxer is more on it.

It sounds like a 365 derivative (oops not supposed to use that word since the brokerage houses failed)
