Sports Cars and Speed Bumps

Hi all. I'm new here, and just need to ask: how would you go about driving over a speed bump or protecting your car from one? Can you add something to the car to prevent scratches and whatnot?

Hi Michael,

My 308's ride height is lower than normal, and one of my Lotus Esprits has a very low front spoiler. I just go slow and approach them at angles, drive around them when I can, or at least move to the side to have two wheels not going over the bump. And always go really s l o w. The angle approach (like one would do for driveways) works great on the Esprit.

Sometimes my 308 is just not going to clear it (running the risk of scraping any part of the frame along the way), and I have to back up and take a different route. If it looks too steep or tall, I don't even try! I only drive over the smoother, lower, more drawn out ones (and angle the 308 over it, blatantly using the entire road).

agree with Tony. I also don't go at a high rate of speed, obviously. There are shoes or such for some. Not a bad idea, but just can't bring myself to drill into the understide of a perfectly good spoiler.

A perfect disposable skid plate :)

Found this stuff at HOMEDEPOT for

1) $19 (for 20ft long) = many times to use over and over
2) Self-stick
3) Already BLACK
4) Thick and Thin: Just about right
5) Flexible to cut and form to any shapes + sizes
6) No holes to drill
7) Inexpensive

Just need to clean the surface + cut + peel + stick. Done in 2 mins. I am happy . Done this for both of my cars

No, it pulls out easy. Because it pulls out very easy, I had to add a little bit of 3M double side tape to make sure it does stay in place.

I had it on for two weeks now to test. It did save my bumpers a couple of times already. Prob will replace these in a month then I will now if it is that hard to pull out for sure (with the added 3M tape).

thats whats great about the lamborghini though...push one button and the entire front end raises up a few more inches giving you a total of about 6 from the ground...still managed to scrape it somehow though!
