Sighting (new) California in Tokyo

Yesterday, driving home from Tokyo, got my first glimpse of a white California caught in traffic. (Japanese do like white, I must say). It was regular street and I was in the left lane to the Cal. Traffic was normal (slow), and as I got near, I saw the rear "horsey" with single brake lights, couldn't figure out what model it was in the beginning, but as I passed the car (while it was waiting for light) it dawned on me. So,...this is the California...
As for my reactions and comments, I shall leave that up to your imaginations.
As a sidenote, lately, I do sight new models like Porsche Panamera, Audi, Aston Martin, and other brand lines quite often. w/ smiles Jimmy

Jimmy, I can only image you weren't too excited and probably got home and thought, "Nope, that isn't the Ferrari for me, these are."

With your experience in Japan, Andrew,...if that car did not have horsey on the back, I would have mistaken it as just another new Japanese car like Nissan GT-R et al. I just cannot imagine myself in this California. I guess I am too much of an old bag for such modern car. w/ smiles Jimmy

Wait till you see the new 458, Jimmy. You're plenty young enough for that one!

As cold as the Cali leaves me, the 458 makes me think all sorts of silly thoughts (like ordering one).

Looks like you are going to have the best of both worlds, Onno. I don't know enough to make any worthwhile comments regarding the 458, but it does appear to be one of the better designs out of Pinn in recent years. Is it true that it has similar performance as the Enzo ? Would that not put Enzo in a precarious position ? Style-wise, between the two, it is 458 over Enzo for me. There is something about those voluptuous curvatures that stir my senses. w/ smiles Jimmy

Let's put it this way: Ferrari has released official figures for the Fiorano track for the Enzo, 430 Scuderia and 458. All times are identical. But clearly the 458 is an improvement on the 430 Scuderia, and the latter was released 5 years after the Enzo. I think it's not unreasonable to suggest that Ferrari released the same lap times for to save embarrassment for Enzo owners (although that the times are the same is embarrassing enough in my book).

When the release the 458 Corsa (seems like a likely name for the 430S replacement), they are going to have to break the Enzo number but they'll probably hold that off until the Enzo replacement is here.

The 458 looks fantastic, better in real life than on the pics and I thought it was great from the first pic I saw.

Drove behind the Panamera for a while in December, didn't brighten up my day.

Nope, it probably blocked out all the sunshine with its loutish, bulky shape.

A horse is a horse, of course, of course, and no one can talk to a horse of course. That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mister F.

I have no opinions one way or another for Panamera. Seems like a functional car with great performance ? I can sense that Porsche would sell very well here in Japan. w/ smiles Jimmy

Got to see another white California today near my house in Yokohama. I was standing outside, next to my car (AMG E60), and here comes a white California, (about 20kph speed). Got to get a good look at the car as it passed by me. Conclusion: it only reconfirmed my impression.
About an hour later, as I was driving, I got to see yet another Ferrari, a white F355. The sound was beautiful ! ( I was driving my Dino). w/ smiles Jimmy
