How Not To Unload an F430 Spider

The driver delivering this Ferrari to an exotic car reseller in Ohio didn't have a great day yesterday as he accidentally dropped a F430 Spider tail-first onto the ground.

Unfortunately Jimmy, this might actually be true as it has happened in the past to a Porsche and Aston Martin.

Naturally, I wasn't there so don't know the circumstances; but shouldn't these cars be tethered??

I sold a Boxster on eBay about eight years ago to a lawyer in California. He sent the carrier for pick-up and the guy shows up in a two-tiered, ten car unit (don't know what the call them, exactly), but not a high-end car carrier. He calls from the entrance to our neighborhood and says he can't make it down the streets. I drive it up to the entrance and he asks me to drive it up on the truck. I say 'no way'.

He hops in, and slowly moves it up the ramp and about halfway, it starts to need more right foot and he guns it! It leaps forward and hits the car in front of it on the carrier! I am freaking out, because this thing is mint and the buyer is an attorney. He backs it up a little and the only thing damaged is the front license plate bracket. Very lucky...

When I was moving from NJ to Chicago, I had an enclose transport and the driver asked me if I can drive my 355 up the ramp into the carrier. I was pressed for time (having small window of organizing belongings and vehicles to be moved) therfore not having to argue why it had a ramp and not a lift which I had requested.

I asked the driver about the ramp and he had said that he had moved exotic cars previously. I mentioned that the 355 is a bit lower than most exotics. He says that it would work. As I approached the ramp I instictively stop to check. Fortunately I did because the lower fairing was already touching the ramp even before the front wheels. This left a little scratch fortunately. We had to rig some boards to raise the front access point and everything worked.

Just a lesson! Always watch when you have your baby trasported. Yes it is insured but why afford the hassle.
