Preliminary Poll survey

Ok, I've pondered this for years. I, at first, and not trying to be an elitist, originally decided that there were three types of people who notice my Ferrari.
1. oblivious
2. appreciative to the point of stopping, nudging someone, thumbs-up, smiles etc., where they are NOT afraid to engage in conversation and treat you normally
3. IGNORE with great effort [may include scorn and 'gas mileage/cost-vs-poor' comments] as a means to 'punish' [like we care] someone they think is above it all.

BUT the list expanded over the years as the more people I encountered:
4. Throw things at you: Happened to me twice and don't know exactly where they fit, but both were truckers, albeit, NAmerican types.
5. May ignore/scorn item as jealousy [very very very rare].
6. IGNORE the entire situation, or 'try to' only to see their heads almost snap off, or their eyes bulge out the back of their heads as a sort of #2 with + #4
7. #2 + #5
8. #2 + #3

and

well,

here is the deal, I want to get a great poll. Too many times when a poll is posted, someone will say: "HEY, you left off...../or, hey, I didn't vote because...."

So, here is our chance to perfect the common, better poll .. we can go up to 20 items to include all the above and none of the above.

I would like to have combos, in that some of the selections like above are selections plus 'others'

would truly be nice to not have single responses, as 'select all that apply' but programmers should NEVER design only program: ask me how I know.

here are some 'others' wordings:
People who view an exotic [Specifically Ferrari owner]:

1. Try not to awknowledge the driver/owner as it would be ‘giving them recognition’
2. Awknowledge the driver/owner as a sign of ‘terrific approval’ not necessarily jealousy, but, glee in approval to having seen it.
3. Like it when the driver/owner ‘smiles back’ or awknowledges their ‘high-five/thumbs-up’ with the same.
4. Try to NOT look, but crane their neck [almost breaking it….you can see their eyes popping out the rear of their head], but secretly like or are curious what they see: sort of a mix between #1 + #2 [no Greg, no jokes here ]
5. Some will engage in conversation
6. Will ask: How much, the gas mileage, the maintenance, how fast.
7.

SO: EVERYONE, please take a min. and refine the responses...my engrish [sic] can be incorrect and or improperly worded, so counting on the UK group to keep the 'mother' toungue correct

Don't worry about your English Rik, we don't speak it properly over here either, well apart from Comrade Vulcan F-40 (what has happened to him?)

In no particular order, people I have encountered:

1.Other Ferrari owners - in the main, they will always come over and chat even if they are owners of multiple supercars.

2. Car enthusiasts, even if they aren't Ferrari fans, they still appreciate a classic car and will give an approving nod or thumbs up, and sometime engage in conversation.

3. Bikers, I've had several classic bike owners come up to me at fuel stations and start asking questions about my car.

4. Kids - I've seen dozens of kids point to their friends or Dad's and lip read them saying, "look !!!! A FERRARI"

5. Mobile phone photographers - On a couple of occasions when I've been stopped at lights I've glanced in the rear view mirror and caught the drive of the car behind snapping pics on their mobile phone.

I've never encountered any abuse, or jealousy in the last 4 years, had nothing thrown at me or had anyone flip me the bird.

I'm sure there must be plenty of people out there who mutter obscenities under their breath or think all kinds of things about Ferrari owners. The truth is I really don't care what negative things others think about Ferrari's or Ferrari owners.

getting closer

we may consolidate the final questions yet.

Forgot about the 'flip off' .. got one of those while passing bunch of Dodge people going to Infineon while I was on my way to the city.

Also, forgot my first NASCAR race last year, where as we rode the Mondial T up the hill what should come over the loudspeaker? "HEY, MAGNUM, slow it down"

was following a string of cars up that grade and I can tell you I was not going anyfaster...but hey Ferraris register 10MPH on the speedo standing still

BTW: I'm quite certain it was just for effect, but it did register a certain 'tone' which bespoke "Dude, we hate you"

I Don't own of course, But when i see a Ferrari of any type i

1. Do anything possible to tell them i love it.
2. If it is especially one i like, ex. Mid engine v-8 or the gt's 550, 557, 599, supercars(f40 f50 enzo 430 scud) i will make sure i get pictures and show how much of a Ferrari fan i am, Tell them i Love it and talk if i sense that they dont mind a conversation with a 17 year old Tifosi

I want to Race.

Per #4 above: throw things. I had parked my 430 downtown a few weeks ago at night and when I got up the next morning and was putting on the cover, I noticed that the right side hood and fender were slightly discolored/sticky. Someone had poured a beer on it. I had to laugh, honestly. Sad that someone would be so petty. Of course, had I seen them do it, I may not have laughed...

With that exception, the reaction to the car (and my previous cars) has been universally good. People from all walks of life have smiled, waved, stopped, talked, taken photos, etc. (see my 'Surprise' post earlier tonight!)

How about the ones that think it must be a kit car? I run into those ones all the time.
"Is that a kit car?"
"No, it's real."

I had one guy who actually argued with me that it was a kit car that I was passing off as genuine. I lifted the lid to show him the engine and his response was, "Well anybody can go out and buy a set of valve covers that say Ferrari on them."

I know this is a loooong survey but that's just the problem with these single answer responses: which is why some of the responses will be '#1 + #[something else]' etc.

can't perform a multi level response. OR, guess I could make a multi level response in ranking order.

help

should have put him in the car and tore him a new one, but that would be giving into the dark side.

I probably would have asked him, "Tell me what I can do to prove otherwise. Registration, license? What? IF you are able to spot the real vs kit, point it out "

I think it was the Pontiac Fiero badge on Pete's steering wheel that gave it away

You might have got away with it if you'd stuck it on diagonally
