FERRARI SP1 : General

Ferrari SP1 [ Sport Prototype 1 ] is a one of a kind, special commission for one of Ferrari's most celebrated Ferrari collectors: Junichiro Hiramatsu

The vehicle along with an full, body mockup used to produce the final working car, were delivered to Mr. Hiramatsu.

This car even has its own brochure.

Cavallino latest issue, has a slight write-up on it, but more discusses the designer.

Image comes from this above link.

NOTE: the similarity to the new 458 in terms of top, sides? I'm seeing it. The rear has similarities too, but the front, is totally not a 458 style.

Interesting design, the front end sit a little high for my liking.
Not bad at all.

the back end was actually shortened, which gives it a higher profile. Sort of a visual in his preferance. But, he liked the more blunted rear....I too like a bit longer rear.

Here's a link to some pics of the rest of his collections, models and the real things. Certainly looks like he's got the Ferrari bug good and proper...

now he owns an official, one of a kind, model, full size, from Ferrari: that has to be very special to his model collection.

I had a pic of him with Enzo from years ago....would have to dig it up [googling]

These special commisions are a program that Ferrari is quietly making available to a group of there best customers. I would expect to see several more over the next couple of years.

Fioravanti still has the magic touch!

. . . and is the "wedge" finally coming around back into style?

Think so but as a softer rounded wedge.
