Wilton House - Hill Climb and Charity Event

Went to a Supercar event last weekend at Wilton House http://www.wiltonhouse.com/

It was a great day out. The days agenda included an early run out to Wilton in convoy (a hour and a half drive) followed by a Hill Climb and finally a charity display of all the supercars on the house grounds to raise money for a local childrens charity. Personally the highlight of the day was having Nick Mason arrive in his McLaren F1 GTR.

The overall event organization was superb.

Fantastc pics Boxer. I did consider going, but looking at the map it would have been a 4+ hour trip each way for me.

I saw Nick Mason's F1 GTR last year at the National Motor Museum in Yeovil, it was minus the decals then.

Very cool Boxer, great to see so many owners turn up with their special vehicles for a worthy cause.

Mason's car is something else... LH was promised one if he became world champion last year, do people know if Ron Dennis made good on his promise?

Great pictures Boxer, and it looks like it was a fantastic turn out of supercar variety.

Were you in the F50 when the photo of the ladies blowing you kisses was taken?

As for Lewis receiving the McLaren F1, I remember the deal was that he had to bring home the driver's and constructor's championship to McLaren and he only got the driver's, so not sure if he did get the F1 after all.

In a press conference just after he won the world championship, RD promised LH the F1 GTR that sits in the reception of McL's HQ if he won the drivers world championship a total of 3 times.

I know he hasn't left McLaren the company, he's just not involved in the F1 side but come to think of it, if Ron Dennis took a step down from F1, do you think the promise still stands?!? I'm sure Lewis would have made sure of that Just a thought.

I believe Ron Dennis still owns a 15% share in the McLaren Group, which includes the F1 team and the new road car company. I'm sure he would make good on his promise if LH wins the drivers championship 3 times. First they need to give him a car that is capable of winning a few more races

Do I "smell" something still burning deep inside your brain, 212EXport ? It seems like it is only a matter of time for the inevitable. Wishing you the best. w/ smiles Jimmy

That was great, Boxer. Noticed few things, how light the traffic was,...early in the morning ?,...roads are relatively straight,...no speed limit signs,... What a lovely day for a drive like that. Was curious as to what the average RPM/gear was when you were mildly cruising down the highway ? Thanx for the video. w/ smiles Jimmy

Boxers on-board camera is fantastic!! Actually, make that awesome!!

Jimmy check out 51 secs - the sign on the right (black diagonal stripe on white circle - no numbers) indicates National Speed Limit.

Jimmy, It was early on a Sunday morning. The speed limit for most of the highway was 70 mph. Weather was very good (for a change). We needed to get to the place by 11AM so we took the highway/main roads most of the way. Cruising on the highway was mostly done in 6th at around 3200 rpm.
