Not very common meet a six-fingered man, but to meet 2 of them in one week?

I had this Chinese guy on the ship last week. I (among others) noticed that he had 2 thumbs on his left hand. An extra finger you might not notice but an extra thumb is pretty hard to miss. You try to act like it's nothing, but it is very difficult not to stare. He left the ship a few days ago.

Then today we get a geologist from India. He comes to my office to ask where he can find the Shell rep. I go show him, he points down the hall and I'll be damned, he's got 2 thumbs on his left hand. What are the freakin' odds of that? I had to run to go tell Bob and Julie, "Guys, you'll never guess what!"

How bizarre is that!?! I've never met a man with 6 fingers before and I've met 2 of them in the last week. People from different races and countries born thousands of miles apart and both of them on my ship and both of them had 2 thumbs on the left hand.

Pete, what's odd about that? Hasn't everyone got two thumbs on their left hand? You must be a freak if you haven't. And if you don't have diphallicterata you really are a freak.

Hey Pete, just been thinking about this and you might have made a scientific discovery of major importance. Obviously, someone with 6 fingers has evolved more than a 5 fingered Ape-man. For years scientists have been trying to find the missing link between apes and humans, and I think you may just have found it, and it's been starring you in the face for 40 odd years.

Suggest that you write to NatGeo or Discovery and tell them you are the missing link, and guess what, I've only got 5 fingers. I'm sure they'll organise a really good reception for you.........straight jacket, padded cell, injections with big needles, lots of probes into places the sun doesn't shine.

You'll become a huge celebrity, fame and fortune beckons

Pete, I've got an idea for you As you know Michael Jackson is well known for his wierd tastes and collecting freakish things. It might be worth writing to him and telling him that you are a real live freak. He might offer to buy your body for millions of $$$$'s, and give you a massive up front cash payment. If you are lucky, you might even get to go on his world tour as the support act in his freak show. You'll be on the same bill as the Elephant Man and bubbles the chimpanzee

Those guys must be amazing gamers. I wonder if the controllers can keep up with 2 thumbs...

And imagine how the women feel about it....

Technically the thumb is not a finger so technically Pete didn't meet two 6-fingered men in one week. Also... were the fingers on their other hand missing? If not, then I would postulate that Pete can't count

Now, Pete is wishing that he had the two thumbs

Pete posts another great thread, I can see plenty of angles on this one to keep it running for ages with a bit of input from the 5 fingered Captain Birdseye himself, and he does a disappearing act again I hope he's not doing a 5 knuckle shuffle

I hope that's not a taster for what I can expect in Singapore later this year. He'll meet me at the airport, say hello and oh BTW I've gotta just quickly go to the shops, wait here for me, and that's the last I'll see of him.

Pete met two 11-filangied persons...just to be more generic. Think of the farming these guys could do if painted green.

MY first question:

which thumb do you use on your retracting BIC

"Two thumbs up" gets a whole new meaning like this.

I also have to wonder if one of those two-thumb-guys goes hitchhiking, do two cars pull over?

I've been thinking about this and Arch is right... Those guys really are on the leasing edge of the evolutionary scale. The opposable thumb gave the human species the ability to manipulate tools. They have two !!!

What do they do when they have their thumb(s?? plural?) up their ass? How does that even work? Do I really want to know?

In some people's cases, two is not enough

Don't worry Archie, Singapore is an island so it is pretty hard to get lost. If we do get separated you can pretty much go up to any Filipina girl and ask her, "Where is the Master?" and she'll tell you where I am.
