They ruined it !!! They absolutely RUINED it !!!! The FIat 500 and the Abarth 500 were absolutely perfect and now they've undone it all !!!

It's a godsdamned frakking fallacy !!

I sort of agree with Basosz, but not for the same reasons.

For what it is the Fiat 500 is a great car, it is cute and fun, but it is not a Ferrari and shouldn't pretend to be one. And why are Ferrari cheapening their brand image by putting their name on a £15K car?

What next a Fiat 500 Luigi special edition? Or a Ferrari Barbie special edition? ..oh, they've already done that.

I'd prefer one of the original Ferrari 500's.

Are there any performance modifications of the FIAT 500 Ferrari edition that are different than the standard FIAT 500?

What performance enhancements do you need? If you want a fast 500 you buy an Abarth. That thing has a 1.4 liter engine but it pumps out 135 horses. There's just no need for a ferrari badge. Even though Abarth isn't as totally lunatic as they used to be, they're still very able to make a car go fast without ferrari's help. And with Fiat breathing down their neck to make the Abarth 500 as good as possible (Fiat really wanted it to shine) they absolutely delivered.

There is also the possibility that Abarth will use the 155 HP 1.4 liter engine they use in the Grande Punto. Then you get 155 HP in a car that weighs 1035 Kilograms (about 2277 lbs). Now you tell me... who needs ferrari with a car like that?

I would however like a Luigi edition. Luigi was great Maybe they could do a GPS with Tony Shalhoub's voice

I am not sure. The bumpf says that it has the Abarth Suspension and Sports Exhaust, nothing about engine tweaks.

I remember last year this Fiat 500 Ferrari Edition coming out but it is not Fiat just placing on a Ferrari badge to sell the 500. Fiat have made these Ferrari editions in a limited number of 200 units to supply to Ferrari dealers as a loan car when Ferrari owners take their prancing horses in for a service. 60 out of the 200 were going to U.K dealers alone.

Here are some pics from last year of one sporting a Challenge stripe down the middle.

An article from January 2008....

Ferrari presents Felipe Massa with custom Fiat 500

If you drove Formula One cars for a living, what would you drive in your spare time? Well, just about anything you want, given the multi-million-dollar contracts F1 drivers garner these days. F1 teams, however, routinely present their star drivers with their parent company's best rides. For example, while at McLaren, Fernando Alonso had to make room for his SLR by selling off his Renaultsport Megane. But Felipe Massa may have to get a (slightly) larger garage to fit the new custom Fiat 500 that Ferrari presented him in Monaco next to the Ferrari 599 he received previously. But after routinely squeezing into the tiny cockpit of a grand prix racing car, the comparatively vast space inside the tiny Fiat may actually be a step up.

Naturally Ferrari wouldn't give its star driver just any ordinary 500. Massa's has been outfitted with a 120-hp 1.4-liter quattrovalvole four from Fiat Powertrain Technologies, a special brown leather interior to contrast with the pearl white paint and Skydome electric sunroof, and bright red brake calipers peering from behind the 16" alloys. We can't see him complaining, especially since his mentor Michael Schumacher himself has an original 500 in his garage.

Most of that rubs out and I like both old and new versions. Yet, take them Ferrari badges off....don't even really go on some Ferraris.

Nightlife, I LOVE that picture of your family's old car It's great to see that lots of people used to have a 500, or knew someone that had one or have driven one. When my dad and I go to events or just take our little one for a drive, there's hardly a time when we don't hear stories of some guy who had one when he was young or someone's dad had one. Your picture is just another great example of that Thank you very much !! The 500 on the pic is an old one by the way. It has to be from before 1964 as the suicide doors were altered in 65 (except for the Giardiniera's, who got suicide doors till the end of their build run)

The dented one just above this post... I really feel the pain. The badge is horrible. The 500 does not need the ferrari badge since it's in a league of its own

I like the new 500; it’s unfortunate we do not have access to buy Fiat’s here in Canada. You guys should see the small crap cars we have here….urghhh….pure garbage….

The only thing is here in Canada, the Ferrari badge would cause serious confusion. People here are not as informed as Europeans in the Fiat/Ferrari history of car making. People here would say….well look at that, Ferrari is now making a cheap car….In any case; I would buy one, badge or no badge.
