GM vs Mattel

Saw this recently:

- Market cap General Motors $5.6 billion (largest US car manufacturer)

- Market cap Mattel $6.5 billion (largest US toy car manufacturer)

Perhaps if Mattel took over GM and revised their product range to include full sized working cars of classics such as 'Lightning Storm' complete with the missiles and bombs, 'Thunderbird' or pink Hummers for Barbie, and a new range of extreme Hot Wheels with 4 engines 16 exhausts and 8 turbos (complete with flames on the fenders ) then maybe GMs current problems would be over.

Of couse they all need to run on 4 AAA batteries, apparently much of GMs misery is due to the fact that no one wants cars that do 10 MPG any more.

What cars would you like to see a combined GM/Mattel produce

Market cap is short for Market Capitalization meaning total value of a company and its holdings. (amount of stock issued x market price of the stock). Does the insane part make sense now?

I think I understand now. It is indeed quite insane that a toy maker is worth about as much as a giant car manufacturer.

Well... more actually. Which is even more insane

GM need a strategy - As Archie says put Barbie in a Corvette or maybe a Hummer or take a leaf out of McCain's book and make her Vice President...

T1f & Chris, if this GM and Mattel amalgamation is going to work you need the Hot Wheels flames along the side of your cars. It would also be a good idea to jack the rear end up a bit and put the engine on top of the hood, not under it.

Just Remember that anyone who had a salary of greater than $1 last year did much better than General Motors.

I do not own GM or Mattel. I have some stock in Hasbro and it has been treating me well.

Pleased to see you're still alive Pete, I was beginning to worry that the brother of some cute little asian girl had given you concrete boots and thrown you overboard in the Straits of Mallacca.

Thanks Archie and in addition to still being alive I am actually feeling more alive then I've felt in years. I just got back to the USA from a week in the Philippines visiting my cute little asian girl and far from being thrown into the sea I was accepted by all her family and her brother calls me brother. I think my wife thought getting a divorce would make me miserable but all it has done is set me free.

If that were to happen, then it is more likely to occur in New Hampshire, off the New England coast by the local "sweet babies". I can vouch that Pete is in good hands now. w/ smiles Jimmy
