Who's Going to the Silverstone Classic this weekend?

Dear Comrades All,

Are there any members of this august body of men (and women) comprising of the Ferrarilife forum attending the Silverstone Classic event this weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)?

With kind regards,

Vulcan

Dear Comrade Jonathan Tremlett,

Yes, a real faux pas! However, I tried to correct it from whose to who's and partially succeeded in my endeavour (see first post) so it is essentially only half wrong!

I hope to see you on Saturday and trust that my explanation will afford me your utmost exoneration!

All good wishes.

With kind regards,

Vulcan

Dear Comrade Jonathan Tremlett,

How nice to have such a polite and obliging personal emissary upon the Forum and whom, undercover of subterfuge, vicariously manipulates the controls on behalf of his unejewmicated friends - much appreciated and many thanks!

With kind regards,

There is a possibility that I may take my son on either Saturday or Sunday subject to the weather forcast from the Beeb.

Of course Archie will be there, mini-Arch just won't have it if they don't attend.

I don't know yet, I'll see how I feel at the weekend. I've just got in from a 13 hour day with him at the seaside (beach and funfair), 6 hours in the car and 7 hours walking around low quality amusement arcades looking at overweight people with too many tattoos and too much flesh on display, I could do with a relaxing weekend now. Although the prospect of a car show does appeal.

Comrade Vulcan, do share about your great day in Silverstone with more details, we'd be pleased to know everything about it (pictures included, courtesy of Boxer)

Dear Comrade stile - alpine,

I took many photograph's - but very few of Ferrari's albeit that the Ferrari display won a magnificent crystal trophy for the Best Car Club Display. Neither did I capture images of the racing cars. My snaps were of the magnificent Austin Healey's and AC Cobra's, MG's and a myriad of other splendid motor cars displayed hither and thither. Proper motor cars from the halcyon days when men were men and cars were not the ubiquitous computers on wheels as now seems evermore the case, replete with power steering et al and all the body designs seemingly out of the same computer programme. Heigh ho.

All good wishes.

With kind regards,

Vulcan

Looks awesome. I am going to put that on my list for next year.

Great pictures Jonathan - many thanks! I particularly like the Jacky Ickx race car.

I think I actually moaned at seeing the pictures. That's how much I wanted to be there. That looks like a truely awesome event. There's far more racing history in the UK so they can give these kinds of parties... the Netherlands has far less. Very cool pictures Jonathan. Thank you !!

Thanks. I will be at the Nurburgring for a first visit to the Oldtimer GP at the end of next week so I'll see how that compares. The Silverstone Classic was very good. It used to be a superb event when it was the Coys Festival a few years ago and it seems to have taken a while to get back to that level.

Basosz, for once I agree with you (how rare is that?? hehehehe)

INCREDIBLE how you can get so many great cars, some unique racing cars, all together in one place

that's the kind of thing that makes me wish I lived abroad...

Jonathan, thanks for another set of great pictures!

Thanks Jonathan!

Do you know if this is the same car as the one in the Ferrari/Shell commercial? http://www.carandgarage.com/watch.php?v_id=1056

Thanks for posting the pics Jonathan, were there many other historic Ferraris?

I don't think we will ever see the 12 x 250GTO level that the Coys reached
