Buy a Jeep and get gas for $2.99/gal for 3 years!

I just saw it on TV. If you buy a new qualifying Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep vehicle and give them your Visa or Mastercard number, you will not be charged more than $2.99/gallon of unleaded gasoline or diesel fuel no matter what the price says on the pump for 3 years.

Looks like sales of Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep vehicles is bound to quickly outstrip GM and Ford in the coming months.

A brilliant marketing move to sell cars now but I think it may be short-sighted. It might be a wise time to invest in Chrysler stock and then dump it in the fall when they start losing money from this great deal. I'm going to be looking hard at trading my wife's Mercedes for a new Jeep Grand Cherokee before the July 7 deadline.

Though unlikely, but what would happen if the price of gas were to drop below that demarcation line? Would you still be charged 2,99 ? Cause that would like totally suck

How does this deal stack up against screwing the dealer out of a big discount? I guess if you do a lot of mileage it could be a good deal, but if your wife is like mine and she does 200 miles a year in her car, it's not much of a saving.

What's the MPG on their cars? You might find that buying a car with a smaller and more efficient diesel or hybrid engine saves you more money at regular prices than a subsidised gas guzzler.

The Loaded Grand Cherokee Limited with the 5.7 liter Hemi V8 engine gets 17mpg. So you are right that it would be cheaper to have a diesel Jetta or a Prius, but if you want to have a fully loaded Grand Cherokee then now is the time to buy one.
