Son Wrecks Dad's 360 Challenge

Now this must have been an intereting conversation:

Son wrecks dad's prized Ferrari
Crash ... the wrecked car, top, and below, the man makes his dreaded phone call

It's never fun calling dad after crashing his car - but when you've just wrecked his prized Ferrari you can bet you're in for an earful.
A Melbourne man had to make that call on Saturday night after destroying the front end of his father's Italian Stallion in a smash near Rod Laver Arena.
The front of the red sports car, which police said had been speeding, finished wrapped around a pole in the spectacular accident, which took place on Batman Avenue.
The car is an F360 Challenge Stradale, one of just 16 imported into Australia and New Zealand in 2004, with a price tag speeding past the $400,000 mark.
It was a very limited production version of the Ferrari F360 that was designed as a track car but could also be used on the road. The standard F360 F1 at the time was $396,000, and the Stradale was more than that and built to order.
Television news crews filmed the apparently unhurt driver of the Ferrari ringing home as the car's male passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries, police said.
The Nine Network last night reported the luxury car had suffered "extensive front-end damage".

I hope that he asked his Dad for permission to take it out.

The crash is nothing serious, shouldn't be any mechanical problems as the engine is in the back/middle. RA&PE could soon have that fixed up with a roll of gaffa tape, and a few sharp blows on the hood/bonnet with Pete's 14Lb hammer would straighten that out. Another happy customer, and the boy's dad would never need to know about it.

Boxer, for a minute, when I saw the title of the topic, I thought it was your son

but then I thought for a while that you'd be too busy killing him to post in the forum hehehehehe

In that case, Dmitri, you would have gone crazy this last Saturday in Scottsdale. Actually, one more showed up after I took the photo, so we had seven CSs in one place. (yes, two did not have the stripes). -Steve

You know Dmitri, it's gotta be a personal thing, I really don't like the thin Italian flag lines. I like the Italian colors mind you, but the thin lines, over a white band, doesn't exactly "ring my bell". But anyway, blowing up Dad's car is a bad thing, I should know, benn there, done that...

I personally love the Challenge Stradale. I would look forward to owning one in the future (even though they are paddle shifters ). How many CS were produced?

No, if it had been my son the phone call would have been:

"Hello British Airways"

"Do you have a flight to New Zealand tonight?"

"Yes

"I need a one way ticket"

"I am sorry, there are no seats available in economy"

"This is an emergency, a real life or death matter, mainly mine"

"Oh"

"Please get me on that plane" "I just crashed my father's Ferrari"

"Not to worry, we deal with several cases like yours every year." "We will get you on a flight out tonight." "Take a taxi to the airport immediately and bring cash." "You father is probably cancelling all your credit cards now.".......

Is NZ far enough away? Surely you'd still track him down.
According to BBC news today, the European Space Agency are looking for volunteers for a moon mission. A one way ticket might be the best option.

Ah, no big deal. Give him a couple of days of heavy drinking and I'm sure he can convince himself that the whole thing is his Dad's fault.

Boxer, you are way too easy with your kids.

Mars would be too close if it was my father! hehehehe I wouldn't even bother buying a ticket, because I'd end up dead anyway

To each his own, but that just really makes them stick out in my opinion...not that the big yellow shield with the prancing horse and the easily audible engine don't already.

Steve,

Great photo of the CS lineup.

I don't think I'll let my son (assuming I have one someday) drive my car until he's had a few of his own.

I would never allow my son to drive my Ferrari! If I had one of course. I don't know if I would even let him look at it. Lest he get any ideas of sneaking off with it.

Best Regards,
