Fixing the drinking fountain at work.

The drain stopped up. My Senior DP Operator went and got some super heavy duty "blast the pipes open" drain cleaner. He was going to just pour it down the drain and I was like "Woah there." and pointed out all the warnings on the back and I was telling him how this stuff can boil over and blow back at you. (I love messing with this guy.) "You'll need some chemical resistant gloves." which he got. "You should also have a face shield in case it blows back at you." He said, "I don't have a face shield." "Well here, wear this." and handed him a welding helmet from my desk. (I bet you'd love to know why I have a welding helmet in my desk. You just never know when a situation like this comes up and you will need one.)

So this picture was taken just after he'd poured the drain cleaner. The funny part is, I had this guy so worked up over the dangers of this drain cleaner that when the camera flash went off he jumped back and almost fell over trying to get away from the water cooler that he thought just exploded.

I still think I should have gotten him a rubber splash apron to wear also. He started out just wanting to pour some cleaner down the drain to clear it but, thanks to my assistance, he ended up worried about all these hazards I pointed out to him and you'd think he was de-fusing a bomb.
