New Sailboat, again

Just picked up this '79 Victoria Eighteen for a song. Needs a little TLC (needs a little more TLC after the ride home). Full keel racing sloop, came with the trailer, a 4 hp sailmaster outboard, and 4 sails: main, jib, 150% genoa jib and spinnaker.

Bring it on man. I got a spare bedroom. If the weather is such that we can't go Ferrari ridin' or sailing, there's always 4-wheelin'. :green:

Great looking boat. Looks like it will be quite quick and fun to handle.

I have to get back up to Maine one of these summers.

I've heard nothing but good about the Victoria 18. For a trailerable pocket racing-cruiser she is very quick and forgiving. I picked it up for about a third of what it's worth. It needs a little work and TLC. The major thing it needs right now is a new mast. I found the manufacturer of the original mast and I can get a new mast extrusion for under $300 (I have to swap over all the fittings).

I'm looking forward to having the boat in the water and going on a long downwind run under the spinnaker.

Pete, why don´t you sail to Rio de Janeiro?

I´ll meet you there

my brother lives in a small city called Macaé, that is only 100 km north of Rio

if you want to enjoy a little bit of summer, this is the time, my friend!

Macae is where my company has one of it's offices. But let me tell you now, if I come to Brazil it will be on a 747, not an 18' sailboat. :green: :green:

that´s not a coincidence: my brother is living there because that´s where he works (for Petrobras, remember? )

Yes I remember. And I'm not refusing to sail my little boat down to Brazil because I'm a pussy (although I won't argue that I'm not). But I want to step off the airplane rolling up my shirt sleeves as a tourist or businessman, not wash up on the beach as one of the indesejáveis saying, "must....find...stile....alpine...."

(I hope I got that word right. :green: :green: )

Basosz,

people say here in Brazil that "a única coisa necessária é o supérfluo"

now, I have no idea how to say that in English, so have fun using your Google translator

I guess he has two boats for the same reason you have two bikes (if your signature is correct)

and I´m guessing you don´t have four legs

Unlikely, but I do think he has two asses though. One 2.5 feet below his neck and the other 4 inches above it. Thats just based on the shit that comes out of his mouth though ...

Just kiddin'
