Post link for the petition and I'll sign it. Do you think this could've been fabricated as a publicity stunt to get more viewers?

This is ridiculous. If I were clarkson I would tell bbc to shove it. I believe he owns the rights to "top gear channel", leave bbc, take the show and do it the way he wants to do it....that'll sure make bbc think twice...without TG, bbc is nothing to me!

Top Gear is already one of the most popular factual programs in the world - they don't need the publicity. In fact the BBC probably would give anything not to have this particular publicity. They've very publicly given Clarkson more than one "final warning" so now they are stuck up a certain creek without any paddles....

Welcome to FLife

I don't know about that. That's like saying why does Coca Cola waste money on advertising.

They play their audience like a fiddle - look at the showdown between the 918 La and P1.

Did Clarkson punch the guy - probably but if BBC doesn't want Clarkson others will.

BBC doesn't matter it's Clarkson - reminds me of Howard Stern he did just fine (100M's of fine) without the old brass that always threatened to end his career. A punch pfft the guy probably deserved it but either way it's a punch wish politicians would be allowed to knock one another out.

Anyway - the idea of Clarkson punching someone 20+ years younger is good humor.

Clarkson & his Business Partner Andy Wilman sold the rights to the BBC in 2012.

Agreed, it is THE No1 programme in the world.

Sky has been courting Clarkson for years, now he has reason to jump!

Doug, it appeals to me also, if someone didn't provide me with a sandwich after a hard days filming Id punch them to!

Clarkson's the linchpin of Top Gear, wouldn't continue as successfully or as enjoyable without him!

Will post petition link next....

I'm confused. Is the general argument in this thread that he is so popular he should be excused for assaulting someone?

If so, I guess we'll soon see a petition to get Ray Rice back in a uniform this season...

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.

Wasn't Ray Rice reinstated.

A 54 year old male punching a 31 year old male ... not really comparable.

Clarkson is not above the law: if he hit the bloke, he should be fired. Simple.

While I like his style 99% of the time, I would happily watch TG without JC: it's the content, not the presenter, that matters. Without JC we might get less of the silly articles about making a hovercraft out of a couple of corn flake packets and some sticky-backed plastic that belong on Blue Peter and get some more coverage of CARS!

PS a petition to reinstate someone who has not been fired yet and may (probably) never will be, seems a tad premature to me, so I shan't be signing.

Best wishes, John

Clarkson has to be proven guilty first before he can be fired, we don't know if the 31 year old Producer took the 1st swing, he may also be suspended!

I think the 'Save Clarkson' Petition is an excellent thing, the BBC should not have pulled the existing 2 programs made on the strength of this charge, yes suspend him, but penalize the viewer when the programs are already made and scheduled, beggars belief that one!

Clarkson is only 1 of 3 Presenters and the paying worldwide public has a right to watch the 2 program's scheduled!

IMO, one of the reasons Top Gear is so globally successful is due to the un-PC irreverence of JC and the marriage of all 3 characters (Presenters). He is the linchpin and I fail to see how it would be as enjoyable without him leading the show, he doesn't need to say anything, that face says it all and he is a brilliant presenter & millions and millions must agree with its current formula as its the most watched TV show in the World.....and on that bombshell, its goodnight!

The law - first it's innocent until proven guilty.

So we are all safe in assuming Clarkson is not guilty and by signing the petition it shows that the customers will not tolerate BBC.

Again - Howard Stern was fined threatened you name it he endured it and became a success story. Pretty sure he hit a few guys along the way.

I think real men want to see real actions - for the ones who want skits there are numerous soap operas on daytime TV for your viewing pleasure.
