Found a 1992 TR listed on e-Bay, 14K miles, asking $30,000.

Here's the email from the seller:

My name is Laurie, I am happy to see you are interested in making a deal. It is in excellent condition, Manual Transmission, 14.244 miles, well maintained and gives a smooth ride. No rips or tears. All buttons, switches, power options function smoothly. It was really taken care of so you will see it has a clean title, free of damages or accidents of any type.

The price was reduced at $30,000. I am trying to sell it as soon as possible because I need money for my little girl treatment (that's why I am selling it so cheap). I am sending you photos which were recently taken and show the present condition. I have all the documents which will be sent to you and handled personally by the shipper. It is located in Augusta, ME sealed ready for the shipping. My presence won't be necessary because I prearranged the deal with eBay. The deal includes free delivery and it will arrive at your address in 3 days. You will have 5 days to try out prior to making any purchase and if by any reason you find something you don't like about it you can send it back at my expense.

If you are interested in knowing more info about how it works, I can ask eBay to send you an email with more information on how to purchase it. eBay will contact you shortly after they have the details with all the confirmation that you need to complete this deal and you will also have proof that I am covered by them and a legitimate seller. If you would like to receive the email from eBay will all the transaction information please reply with your complete name, delivery address and your phone number so they can contact you right away.

Thank you!

92 Ferrari TR - a STEAL emails

From Laurie (somewhere in Nigeria, I suspect)

Hi again,
I have attached the photo of the VIN# ZFFLG40A0N0092180 and copy of registration.

If you are agree to buy it I wait your full name, delivery address and phone number. After that eBay will send you all necessary information about this transaction(terms, buyer protection, payment instructions, invoice,etc.).

Sincerely,
Laurie

Email from our buddy Chip (owns a 348, he's in the BMW car business):

Its a scam, that car is/was for sale at Marshall Goodman in Ohio, and has been since Nov 2014, in addition a new Ohio title has been issued in 2014 in the dealers name, not some woman. The issue date on the title should be 2014, not 1997. The title that would match the dates on it should be a California title not Ohio. Looks like someone pulled the Carfax manufactured up a title that kind of matches and is trying to pass it off as real. It only shows as two owners, but that title they sent you should be owner #3 if it was real. And carfax doesn't show that. I would stay clear. Where did you find this car at?

I think I'll pass on this one. Maybe Doug is interested?

THE BANTER THREAD-> whatever is on your mind

You may have seen some of these, I hadn't them all.

Moral of the story is twofold.
1. Just because some have a Ferrari doesn't mean they can drive!

Certainly turned my stomach but thanks Pete for posting. All you guys who drive them to their full potential please be careful.

I was shocked at how easily the car disintegrated when it hit the safety barrier. And that is in a controlled environment. It didn't hit a building or tree, as many road cars do. I saw a mangled 458 in our cbd and I thought how it would be possible to go that fast to cause that amount of damage. Now I understand, they are built for speed, not safety as most steel bodied cars are.

My understanding of F1 racetrack design is to not allow the cars to reach their maximum speeds. Now I see why.
