Looking for diecast models.

I'd like to get a collection started of Ferrari diecast models, don't have a lot to spend so they need to be affordable.

If you have any or know of a good place to buy, let me know.

Thanks

Oh, I know the pain. I am going through that also
I'd also like to have a collection of 1:18 Ferraris, been roaming e-bay for quite a few months looking for best deals. But, decided to put money aside for this years LM.
1:43, 1:32, 1:24, 1.18?
I advise you to start with Hot Wheels Elite series (1:18). Everybody is complimenting their good quality and price value...Or maybe used Kyoshos and AutoART models?

Mostly 1:18. I'd like to start with older model cars such as a boxer any 365 gtb, 250's 275's, 308 etc. I think you get it...

Price range, under $100 to start.

I have a 355 red with black interior. When I got my 95 red on tan car, my buddy got me a model of it. That said, if you want the red/ black, send me a PM with address and it's yours free.

I thought model collecting was ridiculous - now the joke is I could have a like size Ferrari.

Be selective - Mattel models are fine but since you are young suggest buying rare or limited models in pristine condition with the box those will appreciate.

I'm hoping if I collect the right ones, it could be a small investment down the road.

That's the idea of collecting - long term collectors always ends up kicking themselves on the ones that got away.

Doing it right from the onset will save you a lot of frustration - flip side is if they are inexpensive and you like it nothing wrong with that.

Cutter - I think this is a great hobby. Eventually a fantastic display cabinet/wall/room like Doug's that looks totally fabulous. Mini items of beauty.

Doug I too share your sickness but mine is with Australian numismatics. I have a friend who has a couple of 250GTOs worth. I had to slam the anchors on collecting a year ago, otherwise it really becomes investment hoarding.

I'm slowly selling my entire collection before it's too late. I'll just keep a handful of ultra rarities as 'hand me downs'.

Cutter - I would do what Doug says. Have a firm idea of what you want to achieve from the outset. If it is a nice display, then go for it. If it is investment collecting, be very selective. Otherwise it can take over.

David.

i am no expert, but i imagine it would be hard to find "investment" grade cars for under $100. Whatever investment means. I can't imagine many 1/18 scale models going up after you buy them, but what the hell. Most of the ones I want to sell are F1. i have only "display" type models that I have taken out of the box.

If at first I can't find any "investment" models for cheap, then I'll start with what I would like to display.
