The Porsche Cayman is a better car than the 911.

I drove both cars...the Porsche Cayman and the Porsche 911 -- and I think...the Porsche Cayman is way better in every regard.

I was originally a die hard Porsche 911 fan because of the history and prestige and all. -- but after driving both...I think the Cayman is better.

The mid-engine Porsche Cayman obviously handles better than the rear-engine 911. and seeing 5 dials on the dash of the 911 is very cluttering....the Cayman's 3 dials is better.
The Cayman just instantly...feels like a driver's car...not overly complicated or fancy.
The Cayman is a good car for all-around city/highway/country sports car that you can drive swiftly across the rev ranges.
it just feels more zeppy (if that's even a word) and youthful and fun -- compared to the ...so-called...legendary...911.

I think Porsche is deliberately trying to kill off the 911 or move it solidly into the 2+2 market.
The Cayman is now their sportscar

I've always like the Cayman for having the engine in the right place and I think it looks better. But, for my uses, I'd still opt for the 911 because of the back seats and the smug-factor. Off topic a bit, but I've been kind of shopping for a 996 C4 to use as a daily, but I was recently recommended the Xk8 because apparently, Jag's done a lot to improve their reliability and Porsche has kind of gone the opposite direction.

I would agree the XK8 - Tata has done wonders with Range Rover.

Jaguars are the best deal out there. As far as the Cayman it's been held back it's far more capable vs 911.
