Sea Captain

My son just came home from his first job after graduating form CMA. It was 50 days for the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry Company or something. After 50 days of 12 on and 12 off, they said his next four weeks would be the same with no days off. He said “Good Bye.”

Peter, my 22 year old son made more money per month than I, the little rat. Good heavens, why did I not know about this earlier in my career?

You have a good life being a license officer, do you not?

It ain't bad Bart, but everything comes at a price. The wages are good, but when you are at work, you are GONE. When you, Bart, call your wife up and say, "Honey, I'm going to be a little late coming home from work." You are talking about a couple of hours. When I call home and say, "Honey, I'm going to be a little late coming home from work." I'm talking about a few DAYS.

The reason the pay is so good is because no one else wants to do it. Personally, I love it.

Also, you may think he made more than you in one month, but don't forget, you work EVERY month. So you can take his check and cut it in half to figure out his monthly salary.

One of the good things about MMP is that they will take care of all his future training. And yeah, the pay is real good with them.
