delete the photo section

As you've seen from some other post I'm planning a few overhauls for the site.

I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on deleting the current photo section. The photos will not disappear but you will view them either through the Registry or the Models section. Like this (scroll to bottom...hit viewall):

http://www.ferrariforum.com/models/v...hp?modelid=135

Or like this:

http://www.ferrariforum.com/register/photostats.php

Or even this:

http://www.ferrariforum.com/register/photos.php

Thoughts?

Thanks!

that works fine for me as well, maybe add some extra models, but I think it is good to keep a seperate photospace

I think the second version would be good.

I like it the way it is now also. I was planning on putting up some more non-Ferrari stuff (Jeeping, Sailing, Oil-Rigs, etc.). You've liked some of the stuff I've put up there.

Cool if you want to fine tune the Ferrari stuff, but don't take away the flavor of the random non-Ferrari pictures. The photos of the people who love Ferraris in their normal life, doing the other things they enjoy.

What is funny is I don't think people realize the three options I posted exist now and those are not sample future pages I would make, you can actually navigate to them through the "Registry" and "Models" link.

Pete,
I would for sure keep the user submitted photos and incorporate that gallery either into a persons profile here (the old way) or some other clever way.
-------------

The reason I want to delete the Photos gallery is because it doesn't get updated, and hasn't been updated in....two years! But as the Registry and member's photos grow so does the models photo link.

I am considering doing the following which is making this page the first page you see when you click "Photos"

http://www.ferrariforum.com/members/allphotos.php

And just include all the photos of the entire site. Then have a gallery dropdown that equals the models with photos and slightly clean-up the interface.

Regardless I'm making all these tweaks in conjunction with the other things to improve site flow and get people to other parts of the site as I'm doing with the new homepage.

Thanks for all you feedback.

I like the last link you posted...

Galleries always do good in search engines.

I agree with Marcos. But I wonder Andrew... can you make "Next" and "Previous" links/buttons on the pics from the gallery ?

So that you can go from one photo to the next without going back to all the photos, is this what you mean?

Yes indeed. That's exactly what I mean. Also saves you on bandwidth I believe... because ppl don't have to re-load the previous (menu) page
