How to do Le Mans

Planning to go to France this June/July with Di and our 2 teenage boys, so of course we've gotta go to Le Mans for the 24-hour. Question - what do I have to know to make this a success?

I'd be keen to hear from anyone who has done the Le Mans weekend about what to do / not to do, etc. We'll probably be coming across from Paris on the Saturday, that's about all I know. How to travel, where to stay (in car??), where to watch, ............?????

ps: Our French is almost non-existent, but I can learn in a hurry!

I have yet to do the Le Mans trip but there is always a large group from the FOC UK that does go. Suggest you contact:

for advice. Good luck and PM me if you need more details.

well, i've been to le mans but not during the 24 hours
but from what i've heard, best is to rent a camper or something and be there on monday and leave on monday
this way you can enjoy the parade of the cars in the town center (and Le Mans is a pretty big town/city) see the scruteneering and the trainings
and don't try to arrive on saterday because you will get STUCK for a few hours, same thing with trying to leave on sunday rights afterwards

oh Le Mans is about 350-400km away from Paris
