The more affordable enthusiast 5 car garage

I would like to suggest one more take on the 5 car dream garage. The assumption is that money is not unlimited for the majority of us and therefore the collection would need to be put together over a number of years. Suggest that a total budget for the 5 cars of Euro 500,000/US$600,000/GBP400,000, be used. Please list the cars in the order that you would acquire them along with the assumed cost.

OK here it goes, I would buy in this order:

Now:

Toyota Prius (I like my home: earth) ~ $25,000
Mazda RX-7 (rotary engines rule) ~ $35,000
F40 ~ $350,000

In 4 years:

360 Modena $120,000
2000 NSX $60,000

Over "a number of years" makes it tuff. How many years? Are we being given $600,000 today (ie: I can invest now buy later) or at the time of purchasing the 5th car (regardless of when) we've spent $600,000?

For the sake of simplicity, the time period is 5 years and the assumption is that the $600k is available in equal amounts over the 5 years (so for a $300k car, you would need to save for a few years).

I think my original list would apply if you down graded the GT40 to just the GT.

1: Fiat 500 (about € 4.000 but with € 10.000 extra to make it a real Abarth)
2: Jaguar E-type (€ 25.000 max)
3: Lotus Elise (about € 50-60.000)
4: Subaru Impreza WRX (Don't know the price but it should be affordable)
5: Lanci Delta HF Integrale (€ 4.000 but I would spend about € 10.000 to get it to Rally performances)

The rest I would spend on a nice house :P

I currently own a Sierra, so...

2004 Sierra 2500 SLT Crew Cab 4x4 65k (my current daily driver)

In price order, my other 4 would be...

All in Red

1975 Ferrari 308 GT4 Dino 20K
1989 Ferrari 328 GTB/GTS 65K
2001 Ferrari 550 Maranello 200K
1990 Ferrari F40 350K

600 US = 700 CAN Aprx

I also really like the 1985 MBW M5 with the shark nose but hey, I would rather have all my ladies to be Prancing Italians

But if I was crazy rich, I could have more, no specific order

2006 Ferrari F430 Spider Red
2006 Hummer H1 4 door wagon Black
2006 Mercedes CLS 55 AMG Black
2006 BMW 760LI Black

I would have a 10 door garage, with 5, 8 foot doors on each side and 3 car deep. In the middle of door 2 and 4, I would have hoists in the middle of the cars. That would leave the middle of bay 1-4-5 with room to move around, for my tools and other equipment.

Wishful thinking !!!

making the assumption that you get 120k/year over 5 years (600k USD) I would do the following ...

1. 2006 BMW M5.........$90k.......[surplus of 30k]
2. 1999 Ferrari 550.....$100k.....[Total surplus of 50k]
3. 2003 Ferrari CS.......$170k.....[Surplus - $0]
4. 1972 246 Dino........$60k.......[surplus of 60k]
5. 1968 365 GTB/4.....$180k
Total..........................$600k

I realize my taste is a little biased, but hey, Im not on "TheEclecticSuperCarForum.com"

I kind of accounted for depreciation ... +/- 8-11k everything should be kosher. Im excited

this topic is the best!! I didn´t think of a list yet, it´s just too hard for me...

for sure the F40 will be in it, but the others I haven´t decided yet

I have to admit that seven months later I have a different list:

The new corrected list is:

year 1: 365 GT4BB (GBP 38,000)

year 3: F 40 (GBP 138,000)

year 4: Alfa Romeo 33 1.7l (GBP 500)
