Massive earthquake in Asia

8.9, the worst in 40 years.
I hope all of you made it out.

Everyone keep our friends in Asia in their thoughts and prayers and let's hope they are safe.

The quake is in Aceh, north west Sumatra. It faces the Indian Ocean and countries with their shore lines facing this ocean are the ones that suffered most. The Sunami (tidal waves) are the killers not so much the quake itself. I'm in KL, in the middle of Malaysia so I feel no effect. But my heart goes out to all the realatives of the victims that perished in this massive disaster. May those who died RIP.

Thanks for thinking of me, mchferari.

Stradale,

Glad to see you are safe. I figured KL was shaken up a bit given the magnitude of the quake. I also saw that a Tsunami did hit Malaysia's coast.

Occupants of high rise condos were told to evacuate as a safety precaution because of the xpected after-shock. But things are back to normal now.

There's a relief fund organised by the Government to help those affected. That's the least that we can do to help.

I'm donating all subscription funds from now until Feb to a relief effort as I agree with you 100%.

Pretty scary... my thoughts go to the families of those who lost someone in this terrible catastrophe.

Good on ya, Andrew.
