Huracan

The new Lamborghini Huracan was at amelia and I actually missed it. That's how busy it gets there. was able to see it today though. very beautiful car. I think this is the only one in the US. Also got to see a speciale and a couple of super trofeo lambo race cars. All in all a good morning.

I hope to get an invite to drive it fairly soon, as well as the Aventador. My experience with Lambo's is extremely limited, would be nice to try them out and see what they are like.

It looks good, BTW, but again extremely safe. Lambo really has lost an edge.

The Veneno is not a regular production model, doesn't count in my book. I do not find the Aventador shocking at all. I found the fact that the nose was just copied from the LP560 a complete let-down. It is a very good looking car, even extremely goodlooking, but no, it is not quite innovative enough in my book. With the Huracan, again they copied the same nose. And the Audi bits in the cabin, please..... for those alone I could not bring myself to buy an Aventador. If I sit in my $300k car (or whatever it costs over your side, it's over $600k over here) I want to feel special. Let's face it, Lamborghini is turning into Aston or Porsche - too scared to let go of their design formula. It is a shame - Lambo was always known for doing something radically new.

I actually like the new lambos a lot. There styling has stayed true to the brand IMO without being over-the-top (like the Veneno which I think is just too far for my tastes).

My main gripe is that I still don't see them as a viable alternative to Ferrari. The Lambos are AWD and too heavy. They're just not drivers cars and that limits their appeal.

Different cars for different markets. Lamborghini drivers are, shall we say, more extrovert.

Yep. In that sense I am sorry that they didn't create more in that design language. Looked at buying one but they were already out of reach....

Lambo

Everytime I see a Lambo, even if its the same model, over and over, I cant decide whether or not I would own one. I can say one thing, they certainly are not what I would consider a California canyon ready machine, which is certainly not the case for 95 % of Ferraris. A friend of mine with deep pockets has a teel blue 2001 Mucielago, special editon example., everytime I see one of these, they always look a little different, maybe my perception is off. There s no doubt about the sick 12 cylinder exhaust note, and maybe if I was rich, that would be reason enough to purchase one, but no way in place of an F50 or Enzo .these two machines out class all of the Lambos to date , period. The Gallardo is looking more and more better to me as the Lambo I like the best. I cant really deal with a car that looks more like a fighter plane, its that simple . These 12 cylinder Lambos, 4 WD or not, would be quite a handful to muscle on my favorite canyon road , their gerth is way to large . Lets face it, Lambos have not and will never be , the road car that Ferrari is ,period . If my 328 had another 100 Hp. I would be able to out hustle these Lambos in the canyons, with ease . On another note, I like the looks of the Ferrari 550 / 575 / 599 , front mounted V12 s , so much better than the Lambo V 12s , and they are so much more a proper road car. My two cents,,,Brett Lucca PS The orange Lambo in the above photo, I know this car. but Im having a brain fade moment, is the most beautiful Lambo ever created...I forget, a couple of years ago, a guy up on the hill let me drive his Countach 5000 s, it was fun , but very hard to see out of , big car, heavy, a bit cramped from what I can recall, happy to have had the experience, most in the world, present company excluded, would never have that chance,,,

Me, too, and I would give the proverbial eye-teeth for one, but there is no denying that the Daytona was the better car to drive (if all the reports are to be believed - I have never been fortunate enough to drive either) and almost as beautiful. So, if I had the money, it would be a hard choice - lucky for me that I shall never have to make it, isn't it?

After the Miura, there never was another mid-engined Lambo that took my fancy. From an aesthetic point of view, I definitely prefer my sports cars to be built on "E-type proportions", but when it comes to mid-engined cars, they have to be genuinely "mid" (e.g Miura, GT40, BB, F40, etc.) not "cab forward" like most Lambos seem to be. Purely personal taste, however.

Best wishes, John

Agreed, John; the Miura has been the signature Lamborghini since its introduction and, to me, still is. Stunning car and a trend-setter at its 1966 introduction. Though I was not then and still am not wild about the transverse engine placement. That said, the only Lambos I would ever own are the 350/400GT and the Islero, and came close to buying an Iselero S 15 years ago. Every one from and since the Countach have for me been far too extravagantly 'in your face' - 'look at me'. That's from the appearance viewpoint. And as drivers, from every input I've heard they simply do not compare with almost any Ferrari model.

No idea, I am afraid. Taken from an advert some years ago, can't remember in what country the car was for sale. Sorry.

Agreed. Each time I see a Miura in the flesh, I would forgive it anything to get it into my stable. Saw this beauty and a few friends in the draw-dropping Loheac car musuem yesterday.
PS the engine behind the Miura is a Lambo motor used for offshore power boat racing.

Since we are going on Muiras, here is the only official spyder. saw it at amelia last year. paint job was outrageous. Also got my pic with Balboni next to it. Great show.
