best chase scene in a movie?

I was watching the Bourne Identity again last night on DVD and wanted to start this topic. What are the top 5 car chases in your opinion?

Golden Eye - beginning scene with F355
Matrix Reloaded - highway chase scene
The Blues Brothers - last scene through Chicago
Bourne Supremecy - scene in Moscow
Lethal Weapon 3

What makes it a good car chase scene anyways?

I would have to say two come to mind right now...

Bad Boys II highway scene (Yes I know most was cg but still...)

and

The Transporter. Just about all of that movie is a chase scene.

and yes...The Bourne Identity is cool too.

Can't think of any others right off hand.

Do you think God stays in Heaven because she is afraid of what she sees down here?

Owner and Operator of a 2000 Jeep Wrangler. A few mods here and there... but just you wait and see what I have in store for her...

You have to go with the one that started it all:

1) The French Connection

2) What's up Doc

3) The Pink Panther (When they're driving around in their costumes)

Yeh baby! I like this one...

And I like the Bleus Brothers (I)... ...when I was a kid I watched this movie over and over again and that movies about the beetle Herbie... ... 8) .

What makes a god carchase:
- fast cars (I prefer Ferrari  )
- crashes (Cops making stupid driving mistakes)
- babes (who doesn't love a nice blond driving a Ferrari to fast!)
- no shooting (Try to shoot from a speeding car)
- great camara angles...

But it depends on the movie. If your watching a comedy, I would like to see a Lada getting chased by a Ferrari... ...and the Lada wins, for example!

How can you miss out on Ronin

that scene with the citroens, the old merc and the Audi S8 AND Robert De Niro

that scene is one of the coolest ever and the fun part is, NO CG, and all real and realistic

Indeed. How could you not mention Ronin. And even worse... how can you not be absolutely impressed by the chase scenes in that movie. Those were the best EVER.

All the other ones mentioned here are good. Some are very good even. But Ronin is by far the best.

Ronin was a good scene, but for some reason I didn't like the camera work. But you are right, Matrix is all CG so perhaps we should elimnate CG as that makes if too easy to make.

Best chase scenes for me:

1) Bad Boys 1 with the 911 Twin Turbo

2) The Rock with the 355

3) Just no way to leave out Bullit with the Mustang

Not all exactly chase scenes.... and in no particular order.

Gone in 60 Seconds (Original)

Bullitt (Original)

Vanishing Point (Original)

Two Lane Blacktop

The Italian Job (Original)

Duel

Ronin

Stingray (1978)

Gumball Rally (427 Cobra vs 365 GTB/4 Daytona in the original Cannonball Run Movie)

The Transporter

God I miss "The Lost Drive-In" from before Speedvision became NASCARvision.
