Report Golden Tulip Rally 2004

Ok, here is my report of the Golden Tulip Rally as promised. When you look at the pics, please keep in my that I have a Sony F717, and not the pro-stuff Dirk has. These are the best pics, don't think all 230 pics looked like this

The rally started on friday and we (Basosz and me) were early so we first went to the roundabout which all cars pass when they come from the servicepoint. We started on the ground...

Later we got up in a lamppost for a different angle.

The car on the top left (the white one) was our beloved form of transportation as usual

ok, the rally starts. Only 3 actionshots of the friday because my camera is not good enough to take pics driving at high speed, in total darkness.

The same night we drove to another stage, where it was totally dark and I walked into barbwire. The result was photographed the next day. Not good... (Sorry mam :lol

Saturday starts. Here we are located at the start of the stage.

here a few 100 m further, but crawled through bushes into the dry ditch to get a low angle.

2nd stage for us. First the Advertising/information car, then the safetycar to check the stage for the last time on racespeed, and then the rallycars.

3rd and last stage for us. We had to get back early so only the first half of the day is reported by us. First pic is of a chicane that is entered by a very, very fast Toyota Corolla.

this pic shows this bend was very tricky. Sand was lying on the inner side of the corner. 1 Car wasn't as fortunate as this car (more later).

Last pic. This car wasn't as fortunate as the car mentioned before. It oversteered, overcorrected and slipped of the road, spun through the grass and hit 1 spectator. We saw the whole thing from the inner side of teh bend, the spectator was on the outer side. He flew a few metres after being hit by the side of the car, and was brought to the hospital. I later read he only had bruises. The stage was stopped and we had to go because we had to get back home.

Nice pictures, Bob! Looks like it was fun!

I don't see any blood dripping from your knee, so the wire only got your pants, a good sign.

also the yellow Evo with Jumbo commercial, that's one of the cars from Peter Bijvelds that he rents out, he was racing a rally in England last weekend and finished 4th in class
also funny to see a Manta in the rally
and there where a suprsingly lot of irish drivers present huh

oh bob, then you see a crash, and you don't take pics of it, or let alone the results afterwards

That one with the Jumbo commercial is from the supermarket I work for. One of the high people of Jumbo races that car. And no, I don't photograph people being hit. The tracks the car left were funny though. The last pic shows a lot of people behind te car. That is where the guy was lying. You couldn't get close anyway.
I was hurt muself by the barbwire. It wasn't serious, but it gave a urning feeling the rest of the friday/saturday.

YEAH !!! And I'm going with him. Like Mr. Bob just said. And it's in Hengelo (Overijssel) in the east of dutch-country and Munsterhuis resides there as well (to put it at a reference thingy... thingy) and Munsterhuis sells Maerati's and that's pretty cool

And the rally (Or rather... rally-sprint) will be fun and pictures can presumably be posted here. If A-hole Bob isn't too lazy
