My sister

Thought I would take this off of the shumacher thread. I didn't mean to clog that one up.

First, I want to thank everybody for the outpouring of sympathy. I was truly humbled by the well wishes. I didn't post for that reason, I had just been back from visiting her when I saw the thread and was struck by the similarities so I mentioned it. I was overwhelmed by the responses both public and private. thank you.

I have good news to report. I went up and saw her yesterday (she is about two hours away). They did a tracheotomy on her which allowed them to insert the ventilator into her trachea freeing up her throat which allowed them to take her out of her "sleep'. She was out for over two weeks. She "woke up' on friday and has been progressing. She still can't breath on her own but she is alert now and we can communicate with her. She has been moved upstairs to the rehab section and out of the ICU. If everything continues well, she may be able to leave the hospital in 2-5 weeks. Lots of rehab when you are out that long.

So things have finally started to look up. Thanks again guys. I told her people all over the world are pulling for her!

Post here and I will forward a copy to her.

Dear Ed,

I'm absolutely delighted to read about your sister's progress!!

She most certainly must be an incredibly strong person to have made such progress.

I wish her a calm and steady recovery!

Ed, that's really wonderful to hear. Sounds like she's a fighter like Schumi

Here's hoping & praying both will have steady progress that leads to a full recovery.

That's a great milestone.

Ed:

I am for many reasons professional and personal, very familiar with such circumstances. PM me ANYTIME if you need information, translation or assistance with your sister's progression. May I ask (ball park) where she is currently?

Thanks guys! we are so relieved. When they called her children back from college we were all very worried. Scott, if you mean the hospital she is in, it is Holy spirit in Harrisburg, PA.

Hey Ed, this is fantastic news! Two to five weeks will go by quickly.

I'm a big believer in the power of group prayer. You are truly the good and caring brother your sister deserves.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help buddy. Please let the boat crew know about her recovery as well.

I've been out for a while so totally missed this one.

I sincerely hope your sister makes a speedy and full recovery. Wishing here the best from Central America.

It's really good you're really supporting her, one of the most important factor in recovery for any person IS family and friend support.

Went to see my sister today. She is doing very well. She is off the ventilator and eating solid food. She can even talk and get out of bed(with help). She will be having the ventilator connection removed from her throat and be moved to a rehab facility within a week hopefully. Thanks again to everyone that showed concern. I really appreciate it. there were several days there when we thought we were going to lose her. hopefully shumi will follow her progress.
