Dino First Drive 2014

The roads were dry and the sun was shining from a blue sky so I took the Dino out for a drive to my new garage I'm renting just a km away from Kessel's.

The Dino sprung to life immediately and after a warmup I headed out on the roads. It's happy and responsive as always and it was a joy to sit in a car again where you can smell the engine.

I'm very happy for the new garage. There's room for all my cars, motorcycles and trailers. This way I can keep them all at one place to admire, wax, clean, etc. I need to frame some old Ferrari posters, arrange some good lighting, get some shelves for memorabilia and parts, a table, a few chairs and an armchair.

Here's a pic of my new garage:

Capo- She looks great. That is not a garage, that is a hangar.

Thanks!

It's quite a deep garage and the glass doors let lots of light in. The walls are white helping to get a comfortable brightness inside. The ceiling height is exceptional. You could actually have a loft in the back for tyre storage, a sofa, some armchairs and a flat screen. I might just build a loft!

I wish I had a hanger like that to live in myself !

Looks like when time comes for me to visit you, I have a place to stay in your hanger !!!

Dino looks spectacular as ever.

Until now I've had my cars spread out. Now they're united!

Three parking spots I'm giving up at Kessel's:

The owner of my new garage is a keen classic car driver. He owns the whole block which contains a workshop for cars and lorries, a pit for underbody inspection and cleaning, car wash and a trattoria with a bar and wide screen for formula one venues! Looks like it will be my new hangout! I'm veeeery happy!

You're living every car guy's dream, Capo!

Gorgeous Dino, BTW! The size comparison with the 612 is shocking.

The ultimate man cave! I dream of having such a cave where I can park all the cars together to clean and polish at will. Or simply to sit on the sofa and stare at them. Very nice Capo, I look forward to visiting you there sometime!

Perhaps we could hold our annual AGMs there, otherwise known as FLOPS (FerrariLife Organisational Planning Seminars).

Thanks!

I'm happy. What would be even cooler is to own a garage like that in stead of renting but I'm not there yet, maybe some day. The coolest of all is to have the house next door or on top of the garage! I can't swing that since I live in an old mountain village with narrow pedestrian-only alleys. Also, the altitude gives a lot of snow and the road up is narrow, not friendly for wide motorcycle trailers i.g. Like yesterday, up where I live there's snow but I drove the Dino on dry roads because it's kept down by the lake below snow level.

It is indeed interesting to line up the Dino beside the massive 612! It really gives you an idea of how much more agility you get on really twisty roads in the Dino and that's why I love it. That said, nothing beats a 612 or an FF on the long hauls. Particularly with the glass roof cabin which is so nicely panoramic.

It's funny you should comment on that Taz. A great well known brothel is just one block away and I am not joking!

Thanks 212! I will show you on your next visit and we'll have an aperitivo in the trattoria across the yard!

You are right, I get more space AND save money as opposed to having the cars all spread around.

From my Spanish fleet I've brought my G400 up to CH, one big motorcycle/camping trailer, a hunting quad, a couple of motorcycles, sold the Buick 225 Electra Convertible and I keep only my pickup in Spain for as long as I keep the Spanish fishing hut (out of practical reasons). It may be five to ten years before I sell the hut in Spain and I need my crew cab pickup to carry smelly bait buckets on the tray, drunk fishing buddies in the cab, fire wood for the BBQ/oven, etc.

From my Swedish fleet I've brought two motorcycle trailers in different sizes plus a couple of motorcycles and I'm sending my BMW to my sister in Oz who needs a good car. I really only need the snowmobiles in Sweden and one motorcycle - gotta keep it more minimized. I normally drive to Sweden thus bringing a car and when I fly there I rent a 4x4. Normally I'm on the boat so I don't move around on land but on sea.

To sum it up; it's all good, mate!

Come over and I'll give you the grand tour! Pick up 212 on the way!

We can definitely hold the FLOPS both here and in Spain or on the boat in Sweden. Not to mention all the NAFI meetings! Just send a mail to see where I'm at!

We should definitely do that. Weather is improving and I'm putting the 458 on Dutch plates soon (crippling tax but what else are you going to do?). Only a short hop to Switzerland!

Let's see if we can do something for, say, April?

Just come over over! But let's keep the dates spontaneous and imminent since I don't do planning. I never know where I'll be two months from now and I don't want to know either. All that is certain is that I will move to my summer base onboard from ca July which means you are heartily and warmly welcome on the boat instead of at my house from July. My mother is in line for heart surgery and it could be anytime from March to September, don't know yet (Sweden). That would of course be a game changer when she finally gets given the go-ahead.
