So i was talking to Phil Hill yesterday

so yesterday morning i went into the paddock at Le Mans on a quest to get Phil Hill to sign a photo of mine that i took of him racing an Alfa Romeo 3000 CM during the Monaco Historic GP 2 months ago, the same car that he was driving again this weekend
so i found him around his pit area and ask him to sign a photo he says no problem, while he starts to sign it he said to me:
oh that's from Monaco, you know i made a little mess of the car there.
so i reply back, yes i know i took a shot of it from the back where you can see the rear fender all dented in with smoke coming out of it.
then he just looks up straight at me and goes
REALLY?? can i see it? with a big smile on his face

so i told him that i would bring to photo with me to Monterey in 3 weeks and give it to him there.
he was very happy with that and was looking forward to it.

phill hill is such a friendly man, and i do applaud the fact that he is still driving pretty good & fast at his age

That's a nice result DJ.

I guess thinking about it, as a race driver you probably see endless pictures of "here's me going through corner 1", "here's me going through corner 99", etc, etc. It probably isn't common to see one of "here's me holding it together with the rear wheel halfway off and smoke pouring from the engine, etc". Mishaps are generally over so quickly that most of them wouldn't get photographed. Nice one Dirk.

Can't say the same about Kimi after his crash!

Yes it is very amazing that he is still driving. I met him in June at Infineon and what you say is very true. SUPER nice! A class act for sure.
