Winter FLED

Still in Piemonte, enjoying the great roads up and around the hills. A Ferrarista friend and his wife from Pollenza joined in with the wife's Cali. He normally drives his Daytona. We are now at Relais San Maurizio resting for tomorrow's drive towards Nice along Route Napoleon. There is frost in the shade but only in the early morning. The forecast is still sunshine and between 5 and 10 degrees C during the day for the whole trajectory.

A relay for the head lights/high beam broke by the end of the Sicily Fled but has been duly fixed and the Dino runs like champ!

Piemonte is nice at this time of the year. The roads are free from tourism so a good rhythm is easily maintained for long stretches.

The Cali was born Blu Tour de France and still is! It has a red film on top of the blue and carbon fibre film on the roof.

The hills of Piemonte are special. Way in the background out of focus are the snow covered alps.

Beautiful part of the world Capo. And you're enjoying it in the perfect car.
In that weather I hope you are intending to don a cap, scarf and driving gloves, take that roof off and enjoy the winter sunshine

O'ay, been driving all day with the top off. My Scottish fishing hat, a matching shooting vest on top of a thin goose down jacket, a warm cashmere scarf and my usual driving gloves. Oh, and a cigar of course!

212! You live not far away, take your F50 and come down for a spin. Start at sunup and you can be here before takeoff!

looks like good times. have fun. we also have a Piedmont region here in the US just a short drive from me.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piedmont_(United_States))

at the end of this region is a little section of road we call "the tail of the dragon". maybe a future FLED?

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=deals...&ved=0CJIBELYD

zoom out a little to see route 115 in all it's glory.

The road looks awesome! A US Fled coming up?

Is the Piedmont Lowland where they breed great banjo players?

No offence to the Cali but I love those Dino's! To all of you rocket scientists out there, how about inventing the 'Star Trek Transporter' so that us global outcasts can join in the fun!

Enjoy your trip,

David.

Thanks! The Dino is pulling its weight as always and I'm not exactly sparing the horses!

David,
You're never more than 24 hrs flight away from Europe. A little longer if you want to bring the 16M!! Come to think of it, that means we're all only the same time away from you.

FLED Oz anyone??

I will just have to get an earlier model F car. It is so satisfying to have to use - the torque of the engine, learn the ideal rpm's for a given situation, the best gear selection etc to go for a blast. The problem with the 16M (aside from no gated shift) is that it is way to powerful for spirited driving on normal roads! On a race track it is great but those high speeds are a little too scary for me.

David.

A FLED on the Dragon would be awesome. You can count me in if an Alfa is ok. We could also drive 441 to Cherokee, NC. That is an epic drive with incredible scenery, especially in Fall. I'd also recommend going from Cherokee to Maggie Valley to see the Wheels Through Time museum.

Wheels Through Time

It would be best in Fall or Summer.

Ciao Jules

Caro amico!

I spoke yesterday with a Kiwi residing in London who collects old race cars. A fantastic gentleman. He showed me the watch he was given when he won the Monaco Historic GP!!

Some of the cars he owns and races regularly: Tyrell six wheeler, Brabham, Lotus and many more!
