True, or we would no longer have the Corvette. That's got to be worth 10bn. of your money. Very generous of you, by the way.

Best wishes, John

How about saving couple hundred thousand American jobs and having a few million American cars produced and sold here each year rather than forcing Americans to buy Japanese and German cars with all profits going to Tokyo and Berlin.

need to add back the tax collected from payroll and corporate earnings to arrive at a number... the government claws back in excess of 30% from taxable revenues ... the government will be made whole with an ongoing positive cash flow in the long term...

OBAMA IS A GREAT MAN WITH A UNIQUE TALENT TO MAKE MONEY DISAPPEAR

GM was in the pits with management selling out to the unions to protect their golden parachute.

The unions called the shots without regard to cashflow or a serious business plan

Obama iS A WHITE KNIGHT A HERO ..HE TOOK OUR MONEY AND made the unions a cushion to land on.

at the expense of Pontiac and Saturn among others.

Obama is a wise investor and just to prove look at ROI on the energy companies like SOLARA. He has pissed away billions on projects with no accounting of the funds ...where is the $500 million he gave to Solara.

Just think what $500 million could do help our wounded vets with medical and mental therapy. Obama is no doctor and does not know how to repair.

If appropriate I would buy him a YUGO but on second thought that would be an insult to a "fine" car. No instead I think a skateboard

False analysis though. Either way the company would have survived.

What Obama did was interfere in the course of a normal bankruptcy to change who got paid and who did not. The Unions won a great deal, the bondholders.....well not so much.

Obama was a catalyst, to induce the bk...management could have done and should have. I don't think Obama should not have interfered but management for what ever reason took too long to decide..the unions would have conceded eventually. Big government cannot and should not run a business

With all due respect, disagree. Why , healthcare very complicated..private sector is self regulating

What Obama is hung on is 30 million marginal citizens that the "GREAT SOCIETY " created. forever dependent on government. They are serfs serving feudal master. Except they don't work, don't produce and parasitic leaches . Three generations on welfare, manipulated by the government for food, clothing and shelter.

Think about health care, who needs it. The young don't basically healthy, middle age ok till 50 to 55. What is insurance for..to take care of the 60+ generation. most of which are already on medicare
with gap insurance to cover difference.

Go to any hospital. what do you see, young and middle aged hardly ever. Furthermore 65% of these patients are in for congestive heart failure. They screwed up their lives by eating wrong and now they are paying the price. The remainder are for cancer mostly with maybe 10% for other diseases.

I speak from first hand experience having been in the hospital multiple times. Such a wakeup call. But I read, learn do everything proactive.

This gvt. insurance is a scam, since poor people on welfare cant pay for it, don't use it and just do not give a damn about health. Hell they have no life and live on the dole. They dont work, cant be trained , and expect Obama to rescue them from their abysmal eating habits.

Healthcare misses the point, heart disease is the killer..there is only one pill COREG that enables the distressed heart to survive. Novartis has one in trials but not released yet.

Govt is assbackwards on health...people get sick in most cases from abusing their health, unaware they killing themselves. ok they are asking to die and wont save themselves. I ask ,does Obama have a magic wand?

We are digging such a deep hole, it will make Greece look like Disneyland.

Some of the analysis assumes gm would have stopped producing cars and all of their sales would have gone to foreign companies. This is unlikely. More likely that an investment firm would have bought the assets and continued producing cars. Much of any lost sales would have gone to other companies producing cars in this country. MK E has it right.

This was NOT a serious statement Don.
Our govt knows even less about regulating and providing universal health care.

Let's try to keep it on gm. if you want to go deeply into the worthy subject of socialized medicine, may I suggest the politics forum?

GM - it's a tough one for me.

Obviously St Louis is or was second behind Detroit in the Auto industry.

For every one job 6 more are created the factories literally built and destroyed cities.

St Louis is fine - Detroit is a mess ... personally I would rather lose money on GM vs Greece and the list goes on.

At some point betting on our country is our only option.

If we were betting on the country, i would be behind you. 9.7B could go a long way in many other directions. We spend very little money on greece. Greece is in the situation it is for the same reasons gm got into the situation it was in. Let the market work itself out.

Ok

So I need to do some homework.

Unless you know and want to save me.

If GM stock is at 33?

That change created how much in tax collectible dollars?

Then how much of that profit was put back into the community?

I stated earlier that for every one job in the auto industry six more are created.

When a study is done IMO - the books are cooked to justify the study.
