We had hail over 3.25 inches in diameter (about tennis ball) and a tornado warning. I knew I had dents in my car before I went to the basement, but when I came upstairs to check it out, the neighbors are saying 'did you see you're car?' I look at it and the back window was shattered. I come closer and see the inside of the car had water; even the dash had some. There was glass all over the back seat and quiet a bit on the dash also, and even some managed to reach the hood. Quiet an impact to send the glass to the dash. All in all there was about 25 noticeable dents and a shattered window, all on a car that was previously excellent condition.
No, no insurance. All repairs will be done out of pocket. The window is gonna be replaced tomorrow, and the dents...well I don't know. It's not flooded, it just got a little wet from the rain. Still drivable and will still keep it.
I’m sooo sorry to hear this. I used to live in Dallas and Fort Worth Texas. I remember nights when my father and I would drive our cars to a parking garage because of hail warnings and just wait it out. The body damage they can fix. Hammer out the dents from the inside, you may not need much paint if at all. Replacement of the glass is easy. The thing that worries me about the car is the water damage. Not so much for the interior but the electronics. It doesn’t take a lot of H2O to screw up an electrical circuit these days.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed on that. The other stuff… when their done with the car you’ll never know the difference.
